This whole stopping his campaign and trying to postpone the debate has got most people scratching their heads trying to figure out why Mccain would do this. It seems like a lose-lose situation for him, but iIMO I think what the Mccain campaign has done is really lowered everybody else's expectations. I'm sure its crossed most people's minds that Mccain is not ready or he is hesitating or he is scared. So when the debates do come around most people are going to be expecting Mccain and Palin to fail miserably (because in their minds they have lowered their expectations from this campaign), but in reality Mccain and Palin will hold their own a little bit more than most people realize and it will cause the media and others to say they did great in the debate when in reality they still sucked. (This is just my opinion/ conspiracy theory)
Er, basso doesn't this pretty much admit this was a political decision in that the Republicans "needed cover"? Obama aside, it shows how much disarray the McCain/Republican/Bush axis is. The 3 am call was from the RNC or W, not America.
It is all McCain's attempt to avoid the debates and putting the neophyte Palin in front of the press. McCain is running a looney campaign, and is screwing with the US economy..... DD
you honestly think the house republicans see McCain as their leader? Or more importantly would listen to anything he says?
Nope, I think this is all politics, that McCain is trying DESPERATLY to hang on.....and doesn't give a rats patootie about the economy, or the American people, he just wants to win at all costs. DD
Well played response by Obama on McCain delaying the debates. Basically calling him a chicken in a condescending way. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080926/ap_on_el_pr/candidates_debate
