I have recently come to the conclusion that I am anti-death penalty posts. I think that they are unproductive and, for some reason, get people all worked up and bothered. I would, then, like to do my part and redirect this thread. Question: I heard this rumor that some guy named Mo Taylor might like the Rockets. I think he plays point guard, but I cannot find out anything about him. Could some one please start a thread discussing the pros and cons of this guy (and also who he might be). Thanks. ------------------ Talking to a dead hare about art
Rocketman95, Well, that makes it very convenient doesn't it? Regardless of whether you "believe" that it is a "human being" or not does not change the fact that an abortion extinguishes a life (and you can define that "life" however you want). Neither you nor anyone will be able to rationalize not only the snuffing out of a purely innocent life, but to top it off how the same person would be against killing people who have committed the worst crimes against humanity.... never. And, how about when the fetus "is viable outside a woman's womb"? Is abortion "wrong" in those cases? Because, it ain't illegal. I already said that I was anti-death penalty. But, I can see where some people would want to execute people who had killed other people. The murderers who die on death row are being punished for their own actions. But, I cannot see where a woman would want to kill her unborn baby just because she didn't want to take responsibility for her own actions. That's my problem with abortion. It is the ever growing problem in today's society of people not wanting to take responsibility for what they themselves do. C'mon quit being a species of whiners and finger pointers. If you had sex, you just might get pregnant. If you got pregnant and you don't "want" the baby, give it up for adoption. This senseless killing just in the name of someone's "education" or "career" or "marriage" or whatever, has to stop. Why is it that the woman carrying the baby has more right to life than the fetus growing inside of her? -------------------------- rblh, I believe that in cases where the pregnancy is likely to endanger the mother's life, rape, and incest, then abortion can be an option. That does not mean that I would press for an abortion. In the case of rape and incest the baby is the one who pays the greatest penalty and yet is the most innocent. But, I would never personally condemn someone for making that "choice". Also, in the case of threatening a mother's health, it is still a "choice". Some mother's may be willing to sacrifice their lives for a child. In a lot of ways I am "anti-killing" like Jeff. But, I usually am more adamant about it when it comes to human life. I'll stomp a big flying cockroach in a second. But, I have found that as I've grown older I've come to respect all life more than I did when I was young. I have killed some animals, never anything very big, and certainly nothing domesticated. But, I remember one time when I was throwing rocks at a duck and accidentally hit it right in the neck. It toppled over in the water and drowned as its little ducklings swam after it....... It makes me sad just to think about it. I even ran after it trying to catch it and see if I could do anything, but it was in a bayou and I just couldn't catch up to it. I don't think I've killed anything other than insects since that day. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
