I think the doc said he had a tumor... he has gotten worse in each episode. He's had seizures and spells.
EB is turning into a such an awesome charcter. He reminds me of Gollum from LOTR. "EB, can I have a look" "Yes you can--when you grow a full head of hair."
I'm glad someone dug this thread up. I looked but couldn't find it. I thought the finale was great. Next season should really be good now that Bullock has taken on the role of sherrif and with Al and all his shady dealings. Oh and I'd like to thank HBO for the semi nude shot of Alma Garrett. What a beauty.
Bullock finally showed what I thought he was all along....a bundle of pent up aggression. Having both read and watched Lonesome Dove so many times, I still picture Bullock as a somewhat younger version of Captain Woodrow Call: Stoic Dutiful All work and no play Explosive I still think he's doing a good job in his role--it's just that his role is limited by the personality I described above. Nevertheless, he's nothing compared to McShane. Ian McShane deserves an Emmy for his portrayal of Swearengen--period. I too thought about reviving this thread, and I was surprised that no one else did. I decided against it because I didn't want to come across as a bit too enthusiastic. Why? Because plain and simple, this has been the best TV show that I've ever watched in my 37 years on this earth. I'm 100% crazy about it, and it's the only show I've watched where I was planted right in front of the TV for each and every episode.
Also, watching it in HDTV makes all the difference in the world. I love the intro to the show, especially the gal sitting down in the bathtub...
This show has been absolutely fantastic. I haven't missed a show all season and loved the season finale. I think Bullock is a great character and think Olyphant does a great job with him. Of course, I agree with everyone that McShane as Swearengen is the best on the show and deserves acclaim. I can't wait till next year . . .
Agree and agree about Olyphant and McShane. I remember Olyphant from Go, where he had an unforgettable role in a completely different setting. It was a great, great finale, which I watched not knowing it was the finale until I checked this thread. (I've been busy) BTW, is MacBeth OK? You out there, MacBeth? Best wishes, old man.
CNN has an article about Deadwood and how the series is revitalizing their tourism at the historical town. However, there are a lot of people complaining about the foul language in the show. My message to these people is...QUIT YOUR ****** damn ******* complaining you *******. That is how people talked back then and if you don't like it then to hell with you. The show prides itself on historical accuracy...language and all. Can you imagine a Deadwood series without foul language? What are they going to say...frack this and frack that just to appease people who have problems with the language? For those people who don't watch the show only because they don't like the harsh language, your missing the best damn show on TV and it is your loss.
Just saw this...Thanks for the concern. And another reason to bump a thread about the best series to hit US television in a looong time. McShane has, IMO, put in the best performance for a tv actor in a decade. If a film, he;d be Oscar worthy.
My Sundays have been so empty lately. Luckily I was at the lake this last Sunday, and I'll be in Vancouver the next two......but I can't wait for next season.
