It's only my opinion but David Carr does not read defenses well, he has poor timing on his throws downfield and he has not demonstrated that he can make plays to sustain drives. I don't think he is going to improve significantly but I do think Kubiak has the offensive 'brains' to get the most production from him. Carr has a good arm and he is not stupid. He just is not a playmaker anyway near a Palmer, BenR., Manning, Hasselback, Brady, or Green. He fits better with Volek, Simms and Culpepper. We do not have a dominating defense yet, and I will have to wait and see the running game. I am banking our success on Kubiak's offensive skills and the growth of our young defense. I would say that our offensive strengths are- 1. Receivers and tight ends 2. Offensive linemen 3. Running backs 4. QB Johnson and Moulds are studs and the TE's are good I like the new center and expect the rookie tackle to improve, Pitts and Weary are OK The running back by committee thing should work, but I don't see a stud there- should be productive in this system The QB is the weak link, lacks leadership and playmaking ability to sustain drives, very rarely comes through in the clutch and has not shown a chemistry that makes our offense click. We look out of sync whenever he is at the helm... Sorry- Whatever 'IT' is Carr does not have IT! By the way - I hope I have to eat crow on this site at seasons end and we surprise everyone-- or rather shock everyone and make the playoffs GO TEXANS
That was my bad...I meant to say that is a whole year but he wouldn't get there because of getting benched...
He hasn't shown confidence throwing the ball on routes over 10 yds and he doesn't look like he is comfortable completing passes over 10yds.
Carr 2,400yrds., 13TDs, 17INTS, 58% 200yrds. rushing 2TDs 2007 Draft 1.)N.Y.Jets 2.)Houston Texans 3.)Minnesota Vikings
Funny. I didn't notice it 'til you mentioned it. And I NEVER use the word "predicate" so I"m not sure where that came from.
Actually, I kinda hope his completion % goes down a little bit. It would mean he's throwing the ball away a little more and falling down behind the line of scrimmage a little less. Which is just fine in my book. Maybe 3850 yards 59% completion 21 TDs 14 INTs Eric Moulds is the best 2nd receiver the Texans have ever had. Better targets + better O-line + better offensive coaching = better Carr. It Better, anyway!
ATT 378 COMP 237 Yards 3959 TD's 27 300 yd games 4 (stats from Warren Moon's 4th pro year with the Edmonton Eskimoes)
3,200 yards 22 td 11 int 24 sacks He will have a slow start, but will pick it up after the Indy game in week 2.
If Carr turns out to be a very good QB, a lot of us will enjoy the taste of crow. It will become my favorite entree.
True. How can everyone judge Carr on last 4 years when he spent more time on his back than in the pocket? A NFL QB needs 4 seconds on average to execute a pass pattern. Carr would get 2, maybe 2.5 seconds. Do you see a problem here? Think Peyton's numbers would be better with the O-Line Carr has had to deal with? Get real. He constantly was harrassed and running for his life. How do you develop a passing attack when you dont have time to do so? Prediction: Carr shows us this year with a level playing field and a legitimate chance to succeed that he is a very good QB. Carr: 20 TDS, 11 Ints 3100 yds and he gets sacked 20 times.
Final Stats: 2,767 Yards; 68% Comletion; 11 TD's; 12 INT's; 41 Sacks . . . and a benching in a pear tree. Again, in keeping with my intetion of the thread PLEASE no judgements on Carr or next year. I'll admit that I've changed my tune on Carr but there's other places for that. Just quote yourself and lets see how you did. I was way off on Yardage and TD's but I nailed the # of INT's.
Wronger than wrong. He was decent for six games and then regressed into the turd that he actually is.
