I didn't say he didn't start out with good pocket presence, however some scouting reports on Carr out of Fresno State said he held on to the football too long and was willing to take the sack. His pocket presence had detiorated and now it is just plain non existent. Culpepper is coming off a devasting knee injury, and is not afraid to stand in the pocket and make throws down the field, same with Carson Palmer. I don't b**** about Carr's mistakes, it's what he doesn't do that is bad. He doesn't make mistakes because the only passes he attempts are panicked little dumpoffs to RBs and TEs. I don't even think he attempted a pass over 10 yds in the preseason.

That's just what I think MIGHT be true, i doubt if it is true. I'm just sick and tired of these Carr excuses with no results for 4 yrs.

As sick and tired as you are of that, I am sick and tired of an o-line that could only block for the run and an unimaginative, ridiculously predictable coaching scheme that "over-featured" the run as if Earl Campbell, Barry Sanders, and Marshall Faulk were all taking turns in our backfield.

    8 games. We'll know in 8 games.

Regardless of what we learn about Carr, thank God that Dom Capers and Charley Casserly are gone. They developed a piece of crap and staffed it with 22 pieces of crap and expected it to perform in the NFL. Completely unwatchable.

I hope the current staff has salvaged the real talent from the steaming pile that was the Texans and dispensed with the turds. We'll see.

If anyone thinks a quarterback can overcome a terrible offensive line (or blocking scheme) then they probably have never played football...

My prediction is easy- The Texans will not make the playoffs with David Carr as the starting QB. So take as long as they like we are waiting.....

The fact that we are mentioning Sage R. as a replacement says it all.

His QB rating this season will be 80-85 and he will have at least 10 int.

Sorry, but it won't take 8 games. No way in the world. After 2-3 games we will have a very good idea of where Carr is headed. Kubiak won't waste 1/2 the season trying to nuture Carr back from the dead.

In evaluating Carr, the big difference between this year and last year is we have a viable backup QB. When Rosenfels plays in the 2nd half of some games and does better than Carr, the Carr excuses will go down the toilet. It will be apples vs apples and I want to see what the Carr defenders have to say then.

In response to a post from Nick, just who is blaming Carr for ALL of the Texans problems? He was a BIG PART of the problem, not the sole issue. We all realize the coaches, pass protection, etc. wasn't very good. On another point, people wouldn't complain so much about all of Carr's mistakes if he made some big plays every now and then to balance things out.

Rosenfels will be starting by game 4.

Is that the same terrible offensive line that allowed Dominick Davis to get 1000 yards nearly every year?

STOP MAKING EXCUSES....sure the line was responsible for some of the sacks, but a GOOD many of them are on David Carr.

Run blocking is not the same as pass blocking.

You do realize that a QB rating of 85 and 10 ints...thats about what McNabb has averaged over his career. I'll take it.

If he's as horrible a no-talent as you guys act like he is, then you are correct. My guess is he's nowhere near that bad, but he's also no Peyton Manning. So, it'll take 8 games to begin to know whether we have a QB who will be average for his career or a QB who will steadily improve into the solid producer everyone saw back in Fresno.

It needs to be said a third time. Pass blocking and run blocking are two different worlds.

Addionally, it's not just the sacks when you talk about pass blocking. How about hurried passes, tipped passes, and knockdowns? What about the concept of a "pocket"? (What a novel idea!!) Everyone knows DC is not and never will be John Elway, and as such the guy needs some kind of pocket if he is to have any ability to see those reads everyone's always whining about.

To put none of the blame on DC would be ridiculous (in fact, Kubiak's been riding his ass all preseason). But to put *most* of the blame on DC is equally ridiculous or more so. It's a team game, and the worst part of our team the past four years is now gone: Capers and Casserly. Good riddance.

    Carr is no DMcNabb
If its below 80 then I will be disappointed in Kubiak
If he finishes 85 we should all go to church the next Sunday

That is a guess, the prediction is we don't make the playoffs as long as he is the starter.

The only way I can see Carr leading this team to the playoffs is a tremendous effort by the defense, special teams and running game.

Carr does not make plays downfield.

The Eagles have a great D line, Great secondary, very good defense. David needs to survive the first game. I see him getting a hard rush, and doing all the bad things we saw him do in preseaseon. Very bad luck to start off with the Eagles. His one saving grace will be his running for yards. IF he does not throw interceptions, and he manages to manage the offense without foolish mistakes, we should only be down by 13 points at halftime.

David will do bettter as the year progresses. David should have puched out Coach Pendry at various times during games last year for getting him pounded, making him into a scared feet, throw too fast, little girl of a quarterback, in the cause of trying to run a Pee Wee league offensive strategy.

David will have a rough game on Sunday. I think he will get better as the year goes on, and by December will be one of the good young quarterbacks in the leauge.

33 TDs (Moulds and Johnson split evenly, rest go to running backs and tight ends)
    5 rushing touchdowns
16 interceptions (10 in 1st half of season)
    3200 yards
    850 rushing
averaging 92 rating, 65% completion rate

Rosenfels will throw 6 touchdowns in relief in games already blown out. Check it.

WTF is a "predication thread"? Unintended spelling sucks. :p

You say that we dont make the playoffs as long as Carr is the starter...yet you predict him to have a rating of 80-85? Brad Johnson won a superbowl with ~80 rating...Trent Diler won a superbowl with ~mid 70's rating.

Wait, so we can make the playoffs with Carr as the quarterback? Yeah, I think so too.

Throwing 33 TDs at a clip of about 200 yards a game? Thats pretty impressive.

Unless they changed the rules, nothing says you can't get 98 yards rushing and 1 yard passing on one drive. You can basically sit at the 1/2 yardline and throw a ONE yard pass. You can run that one passing play on short yardage in the red zone. I see why you can question my prediction, though... you DON'T BELIEVE, maybe?
