does anyone else love this band? They are big in the UK but you never hear about them over here. They remind me a lot of Queen. check them out at www.thedarknessrocks.com

Other than the vocals, they sound absolutely nothing like Queen. They're more similar to 80's cheeseball bands like Heart.

    That said, they're absolutely terrible.

Actually I believe they describe themselves as "Gay AC/DC meets straight Queen".

Yes, I like them. "Givin' Up" might be my favorite song of the year.

They're awesome. If you look past their image, which I personally like, you have a really nice rock band. I agree with the Queen comparison.

_Get Your Hands Off Of My Mother Mother F*cker_ rox.

I own the album. I like the guitar in all of the songs. The vocals take some getting used to, in that Geddy Lee sense.

I like them. That singer's voice is more like Tiny Tim than anything. It can be too much sometimes. But really, they are really just a nolvety band.

The Darkness vocalist Justin Hawkins is "campy" all the time, while Freddie Mercury from Queen was only campy some of the time. Also FM had one of the best voices ever in rock, while JH uses the campy schtick to hide the fact that he is only an average vocalist at best.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee?
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?
I know him, and he does.

    Nice job on Letterman.

Cyndi Lauper is one I left off of the "who do you think is hot and nobody else odes" thread. She is beautiful, I would marry her in front of my wife.

I caught their network television debut on Letterman! I had heard of The Darkness, but hadn't done any research. I couldn't quite get what I was watching. I wasn't sure if they were serious or not. Then the falsetto kicked in and not just for the chorus, he sang like a verse or something... tip-toeing through the freakin' tulips. They're kinda like Spinal Tap meets Tenacious D or something... I guess we were overdue for some campy, heavy rock & roll??

     :D

been digging these guys for a couple months now.

something new and something different, so i like it.

"i cant describe all the feelings that you're making me feel.
my hearts in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel..."

    rock on.

The Darkness are kinda fun, but I'm sick of people saying these boring-ass bands like Jet and the Strokes are the "return of rock 'n roll." These losers don't even shoot smack! Izzy Stradlin would have ripped out their throats with his teeth in 1988.

I guess I'll have to continue sticking to the underground.
