Can you show me proof that they are worse right now than they were 2 years ago or even last year?

i get tired of hearing the refs gave the heat the title, yes wade went to the line alot, but the refs didnt make dirk choke at the line or terry miss a wide open three to tye game 6,mavs had their chances too.

mavs arent an elite team. spurs could of beat em,so could we

    The Dallas TRAGEDY?

I thought tragedies were supposed to be sad? I don't know about you, but I laughed my ass off while the Warriors were kicking the crap out of the Mavs in game 6. That is definitely NOT a tragedy...

That's what makes it even more hilarious...I think that people complaining about the emo soundtrack are missing the point.

Didn't think you'd have to resort to bashing so soon Houston to appease your Mavs fandom denial, but whatever... its pretty typical/expected at this point.

The BOTTOM line is that even if the Rockets get out of the first round, they were never EVER considered championship contenders. Wasting a chance to get out of the first round is MUCH less meaningful than wasting a championship opportunity (let alone TWO).

But did they waste the last 4 years? Probably not considering that they acquired T-mac, turned Yao from "the next Shawn Bradley" to "the next Kareem", and found a way to stay competitive despite devastating injuries and an overall lack of talent. I don't think one educated fan here would think the Rockets missed out on a golden opportunity as the Mavs did.

In the end, Rockets fans are much more aware of how HARD it is to actually win a title... and how you simply can't expect those opportunities to continue to present itself while you continue to piss them away. Sooner or later, your team will start suffering injuries (which the Mavs have avoided the last 3 years), or you'll start losing some free agents/core.... and then, you're right back where you started... a decrepit franchise with no real history, no HOFers, and a joke of an owner who's looking to get out of the NBA and into baseball.

But yea... go ahead and enjoy the playoffs and those first round victories... I'm sure Jazz fans and Sonics fans would never have traded in their multiple mid 90's playoff runs for the Rockets back to back championships  .

Thanks for the video. I was starting to forget just how much I hate those b*stard floppers. Dirk and the whole Mavs squad should be ashamed every time they enter a men's lockerroom.

Such a great coach. Up 2-0 in the Finals as the favorite, and then gets outcoached like no other, then he and Cuban blame the refs after every loss. Heck, he got outcoached by JVG and Ryan Bowen in the 05 1st round.

I wouldn't say the last 4 years were a waste of time. We managed to land a top 10 player and make the playoffs 3/4 years, when we missed the playoffs for 5 straight seasons the preceding 5 years. Our new slogan: "It's time". It's finally godamn time thanks to those 4 years of rebuilding and instilling a winning environment. I've had high expectations all my life with the Rockets. Before every season, I say we're going to win the championship. But this year is different. I'm with redefined on this one. We aren't going to do anything with TMac as our leader, just like the Mavs won't do anything with Dirk as theirs. That's why I'll be following other teams more, like Memphis, Seattle, and Sacramento in the West, and Boston, Orlando, maybe even Indiana in the East. As Mutombo said, Rockets, especially TMac, had their chances in Games 6 and 7 last year, and they blew it. Don't know if they'll get a better chance than that.

Not only did we get Yao in 2002, but during the last 3-4 yrs we essentially got TMac and Mike James for Kelvin Cato and Cutino Mobley. Think about that for a moment. Net effect is Tmac and MJ in and Cato and mobley out...that is unreal, genius moves.

The above made possible because we got Steve Francis back, so I omitted him from the above (tmac deal) deal. I also omitted receiving Juwan Howard in the deal and plugged in Mike James in his place because we just swapped those two as well.

Sprinkle in a little Scola and Battier by giving up some cash and rights to Gay or whatever that deal was. Plus, the development of Luther Head/signing of Chuck Hayes, made possible by the injury plagued 05-06 season and the ageless wonder Mutombo and the return of Mr. Potential-Bonzi Wells b/c of Adelman!!oh and the athleticism of Kirk Snyder and the drafting of Aaron Brooks and the potential shooting of novak......

Wow, lets stay healthy and win a ring now: It's Time

How was that bashing? Up until this point, I actually enjoyed the conversation.

I just wanted to simply point out that the Rockets have wasted 4 golden opportunities to make things happen. I say 4 because that's how long Tmac and Yao have played together (wasn't that the sole purpose of bringing in Tmac?) I don't want to get in the whole JVG thing, but he's what essentially ruined EVERYTHING, including my loyalty. Anyways, Rockets are not done yet. I have no reason to believe it. Same way I have no reason to believe that the Mavs won't get another opportunity at the ring. To say such a thing is just foolish. So it comes down to the question I asked earlier, is there a reason to believe that the Mavs have gotten worse from the previous 2 seasons? If the answer is no, then there will be further opportunities.

so mavs stayed the same, but other contenders got better..

it should be the other way around, if mavs has not improved then there will be no more opportunities for them..

Mavs and Suns I think that they have no luck. You got uncrediable Suns in 05 and they lose in playoffs, same thing with season 06,07 and probably 08...Mavs are just so unlucky, they were soooooooooooo difficult to beat in regular season and they lost due to some MAGIC against Warriors?!
I would call it Texas sindrom;)

Gotten worse? That is hard to say. The last two years were much bigger lost opportunities for the Mavs than the last four years for the Rockets. Up 2-0 on the Heat and up by 13 with 6 1/2 minutes left in game 3. That was the mother of all missed opportunities no matter how you slice it. Last year wasn't far behind, though your team just wasn't as good as it's record. Plus, getting cremated by the Warriors proves that squad wasn't ready for a championship.

This coming season the Mavs are contenders, though they are a bit stale. They remind me of the Kings teams that blew their chances at a championship. It's safe to say that if the Mavs don't at least make the Finals, the season is a disappointment.

Wasted 4 opportunites? First off, tmac & yao have only been together 3 years. Secondly, we were never favored to win a championship like the mavs were the last 3-5 years. That alone says the mavs have wasted their opportunites and the door is slowly closing for them.

other teams have caught up talent wise and made moves to deeper their teams. The mavs will have an opportunity or two but their best chances were given to them the last 2 years.

saying howard and dirk are still young and have many yrs doesnt mean much if you dont surround those two players with the talent thats about to leave them in the next couple years.

in summary, i would say your mavs have blown a bigger opportunity than our rockets have.
