Funny how many people worry about companies killing their next job...it is silly.

    1. You don't have to put them down on your resume
    2. Companies will not hesitate to can anyone if it suits them with no notice

If you like the people you work with, be respectful and help them out when you quit, if you don't and they are assholes, you don't owe them anything...

You wouldn't even have to leave it off your resume. You just don't need to mention that you resigned in a very obnoxious manner.

I was hired for what I thought was a sales position selling speakers. Turns out it was the parking lot speaker guy. I showed up for work and went out with a guy in a van full of speakers. All he told me to do was to smile like I'd won the lottery while he's trying to make a sale and look out for the cops. It was at that moment that I decided that I wan't going to come back the next day. I didn't have much choice but to stick it out since my truck was back at the office and we were heading towards Pearland.

At the first stop after lunch, I had gotten a page from a friend (this was 1994). We were at the Randall's in Pearland. I went inside the store while the guy I was with was selling to this sucker. When I came back out, he was gone. The POS left me there and never came back. It took 6 hours for a friend from The Woodlands to get down there to get me. I went back to their office to get my truck. I called the manager in the morning to tell him what happened and he proceeded to blame me. I told him to **** off and that I quit.

Best part is...I actually saw the s***head in The Woodlands a couple of weeks later doing his thing. I called the cops and then went up to him. He didn't recognize me and started to go though the whole sale. I pretended to be interested and kept him talking for as long as I could. It was just long enough for the cops to show up and give him a trespassing ticket. Before the cops got to his car, I reminded him of who I was. He was not pleased as I drove away.

Hey guys; new to the board. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Best way I ever left a job was to give 2 weeks notice but work 3. Leave on great terms with smiles and handshakes.

Shortly after leaving, started up a business with another co-worker who also left a few weeks before I did to compete directly with our former employer. Almost immediately, we started taking their accounts. Through some people that we knew that still worked there, we found out that they were having extra meetings to figure out a way to stop us. We figured the best way to get back at them was to hit them where it hurts: In their pockets.

For the next two years we continued to take their customers until we sold our book of business to a larger company who also competes with our former employer. Moral of the story: Figure out a way to hurt them for more than the 2 or 3 weeks it takes for them to replace you.

Thanks! This describes my 2011.

Integrity has its perks. You can't control the people around you. You can control yourself and acting with integrity in difficult situations gets noticed.

P.S. If you are working with less than satisfactory people, find another job and give to weeks notice, etc.

I am going to quit this week sometime, but I can't think of a cool way. These assholes run an EMS company and defrauding Medicare, bribing and paying patients to ride with us and they don't even need transport. They give patients and consultants money but can't give us more days to work. Just real pricks. I'm thinking of taking a dump on their desks....

I already contacted Medicare, but I need something that works NOW. Medicare is going to take their time with the investigation. I don't know if you guys remember a report in the Chronicle about ambulance services defrauding Medicare, but our units were on the front page lol. It was pretty embarrassing, I knew that was my cue to get the **** out.
