Sure, but parents of spelling bee champions? I’m an idiot but I’m not sure that’s the best direction to point our ire.

    The non-JZ version is better

And yes, it's still played at every Punjabi wedding to this day.

Haha this reminds me of one of my best friends weddings. He is a Punjabi Sikh and everyone went wild when this turned up.

I think it's obvious that having more affluent parents who are willing to spend more on education leads to better educational outcomes. The way our society spending more money on a lot of things leads to more educational outcomes. For example there are a lot of good Minnesota hockey players who are from suburban well to do backgrounds because hockey is an expensive sport but parents who can afford to pay for the equipment, team and tournament fees, and private coaching do so and as such their kids are better hockey players than ones who don't have that background.

That's why I had a bug to pick. I'm all for equality and even equity.

This just seemed zero sum without providing cues to uplift everyone for the sake of the two.

If there was a corollary to the article, it would be "there are bottom dwellers being left behind. While Indian immigrants winning Bees are exemplary, keep in mind they come from privilege."

I'd rather champion that singled out group's values and figure out ways to promote it among lower class or more "inappropriately" , disadvantaged minorities.

Spelling Bee is nerd ****. Most folk would rather score four touchdowns in the city finals.

Is thus even a problem. They're In their own league. The other kids aren't battling for their spots, their parents money aren't breaking ties

I'm confused. I am doing my best to get myself up the income ladder to give my daughter every advantage. Am I going to have woke people mad at me for that? I am Mexican if that means anything. @tinman help.

As long your kid doesn’t have woke gringo Spanish teachers who refer to Latinos as LatinX
    You kids will do fine
