What BS, good thing he didn't swing for the fences when Howard was a free agent.

It's all well and good to criticize a GM's moves. It happens to every team, even with the best of GMs. No one is above reproach. What I find amusing is that, years ago when we were acquiring and trading good role players and stock piling assets the big knock of Morey was that he couldn't land the big fish. Then he pulls a rabbit out of his hat with Harden and Howard and now the complaint is that we're aiming too high. So which is it? Is he bad at drafting, assembling team role players or acquiring star players?

Seems to me that's he's succeeded and failed at all three. So he makes good and bad moves. Overall IMO he's done a good job making us a contender in a short time. It sucks to strike out on Bosh (again) but the "I told you so" blasts on Morey are almost as bad as some of the Lin hate we see (saw).

    Just a thought.

    /thread.

What does OP want us to be? Does he want us to be mediocre again? Does he want the 2010 Rockets, a collection of role players that played gosh dang hard? Tell us hotballa

I guess people don't see the difference between swinging for the fences as an 8 or 9 seed and swinging for the fences with a 54-win team with a 1st AND 2nd all-NBA player on it and an upward trajectory. Hint: not all teams have to have the same strategy.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Focus on the current team? What GM worth a damn stands pat? If you're standing still, you're falling behind.

Morey has ALWAYS said he is constantly looking to improve and the swings and misses might happen, but the ace is always up his sleeve.

Dude can turn a bag of peanuts into a productive player.

Cats around here are mad because he makes legitimate efforts to improve consistently and THAT is your issue with him?

    LMFAO.

You woulda complained that if Bosh signed, "how come Morey didn't swing for the fence and sign Melo too!! He didn't swing for the fences enough!!!!"

    That damn Morey...

    GTFOHWTBS!!!!!

Every mistake is fixed immediately and the wins are WINS....

Again....if you are standing still...you are moving backwards.

    World don't stop.

Why should he settle for complacency like you do?

the best center in the game, which I think howard is but doesn't get much respect anymore, along with the best guard in the game is more than enough to build a true contender.
infact, I could build you a team that would take the spurs to seven games in the conference finals with one true superstar. all i need is some vampire blood/ or anti aging cream...

    Coach- The Fuhrer
    Team: Lightning squad
    C-Howard/Hayes
PF- 28 yr old scola/landry/ hayes
SF- Pimply faced parsons not buffalo bitton parsons/ Lee
    SG- Lee/ lin
PG- Dragic or lowry but not both/ Lin

all of these players can play within the system. the coach matters.
but where would our scoring come from? we've been scoring 100 pts since the days of chuck hayes playing center. System and coaching play a huge role.

How many championship teams have needed a big 3? Think about it. The majority of champions had 2 great players and the team was then built around them. We didnt need Bosh. We needed to shore up the rest of the team. We have the best center and shooting guard in the game, that is more than enough to build around. Going for Bosh was unnecessary and cost us Lin, Asik, and potentially Parsons. Three players whose spots will now have to be filled. Had we added on to them instead of now having to replace them, we would be in a far better position.

Going for Bosh had zero impact on whether or not parson's would've signed the RFA contract. If we had extended his contract a year ago, his new salary (8-9 mil ?) would've been enough to take us out of the free agency race this year. Morey gambled, he lost. But it wasn't a bad gamble.

As far as Lin and Asik, those two were long gone before the season even ended. Has nothing to do with Bosh.

So going after Bosh has cost us, what ? A chance to make an offer to a few Restricted Free Agents (that would tie up our cap space and quite possibly get matched) ? Lowry at the best, and there's a chance he was going to take Toronto's 5-year Max no matter what.

Plus, we're not done. The Rockets roster is never set until the trade deadline.

Asik did not want to play behind Howard. They could not play together. So he had to be moved.

I like Lin, but let's be honest, he could not play with harden and he did not turn out to be a consistent enough 6th man for the amount he was making. Had to be moved.

We had to make Parsons a RFA so we could have a chance to make other moves to improve the team AND bring him back. If we don't do that this year he is a UFA next summer and we can't match offers and keep him.

Now, Dallas made him a big offer. They are trying to steal him. It's how it goes.

We had a legitimate **** at getting Bosh. He told us so. We went for it and HE BACKED out last minute on us. It wasn't Morey's fault.

It's not over so let's just see what moves we make over the next few days. Morey just might surprise you.

Probably cost us getting Love at all costs, if you listen to those tweet rumors.

I agree with the general premise though. Morey should learn how to introduce stability to a team rather than letting decent players and scrubs distract themselves off the court come trade deadline or Free Agency. Happy Times was supposed to end that, now we could be locked in that anxiety mode for another few years... :(

Lets see.... (sorry for the spelling 14 hour work day)

    Lebron/wade/bosh

    magic/kareem/scott or green

    bird/mchale/parish

    jordan/pippen/rodman

    jordan/pippen/kukoc

    duncan/parker/ginobili

Seems like most of the "dynasty" type teams had a big 3 atleast.

Can you win without 3 all star/super star type players? Yes, but its not the norm.
