I can confirm the truth of it but the "high rate" part is untrue. It is a fact and married (or monogamous) black women have been victimized with STDs because of it. To say "high rate" is a huge stretch. A better way would be to say it occurs more than one might think. While Oprah isn't the queen of trash like she used to be, her show exaggerates and dramatizes (for effect) quite a bit. For what it's worth, I used to work with a couple of white guys who were this way so it isn't limited to one particular ethnic group.

I work at a large NYC law firm with 1500+ lawyers worldwide. Sexual orientation is mostly a non-issue in the firm. There are plenty of openly gay attorneys. At the Holiday party last week, both straight and gay attorneys attended with their significant others and there were plenty of gay couples dancing. I think this probably reflects how it is among the wealthy or upper-middle classes in NYC. I'm sure whoever this NJ Net is aware of the attitude of the city in general and feel more comfortable with his sexual orientation as a result. Who knows... maybe the rest of the Nets don't think it's a big deal, either... but this is the NBA.
