How I contribute to my perception? Ok. Done. I dindu nuffin. (Oh, and any person probably contributes greatly to their own perception. Being sort of inherent within the person and all...)
I'm not so sure about this. One person can control his actions; but if you think about something like the Civil War of the 1860s, it had been brewing for decades. It spun out of the control of any one person, after a series of compromises (1820, 1830, 1850).
Methinks you didn't watch the videos I referenced. Unlike Bigfoot, these are well informed people addressing serious issues. And by the way, at least in the Heritage panel, none of them are very optimistic, at least about things going like they would want them to go. They're pretty much resigned to the defeat of their preferred principles and policies.
Have you taken a moment to learn just how extreme American conservatives and centrist American liberals are versus their counterparts in every single other country in the industrialized world?
If we are talking American politics (and we are), I'm not sure that politics outside the USA is relevant. It's inarguable IMO that the mainstream the GOP has turned (more) leftist. They have accepted: Obamacare, SS, Medicare, etc., many other Big Govt programs. As the Overton window has shifted left in the US (because too many people have been given the franchise), the GOP has been forced to accept leftism. And that, by and large, is what led to the creation of the alt-right.
The MSM definitely has not accepted medicare for all. They are fond of Obamacare where the main tenants of Obamacare are are a 1993 GOP Heritiage Foundation creation. Overton window has expanded to accept more nativist/jingoist rhetoric. 10 years ago no one would believe a presidential candidate from one of the two mainstream parties would publicly demand to ban immigration from an entire religious group.
International politics is relevant here because the principles of government are universal. Socialism here is Socialism there. Fascism here is fascism there as well. So, what you need to understand is that American conservatives have had it far too easy for far too long. Obamacare is a perfect example. A RIGHT WING policy proposal that is being spun as left wing communism lite. That is the privileged world American conservatives are living in. Where even their own damned ideas are considered left wing. This is the equivalent of starting a game of baseball on third base and thinking you hit a triple, and then having some combination or ignorance and gall to accuse the other team of having an unfair advantage. In the rest of the world, universal Healthcare is the "centrist" position and the left you have to contend with are legitimate seize-the-means socialists and "eat the rich" anarchists. You have no idea how insulated you are from the actual left wing here.
I don't agree with this. There are "varieties of fascism" -- there was even a book by this name that I read in college. And this is because historically, conservatives have been very zealous about their rights. And, America was a spread-out country. People were not living on top of each other like they do now. So they were naturally insulated from each other, by distance. Different nations have different values. If you look at France, their motto is "Liberty, Fraternity and Equality." Americans never put "equality" (at least in the sense of equal outcomes) as part of their motto.
That you would post such far-right dips*** conspiracy theory doucher videos pretty much explains your posting history.
You are right, you posted like an hours two worth of content there bud, I just read the post and decided I wasn't going to spend too much time entertaining the idea of civil war. Could it happen? Sure. Just like it could happen that Trump serves more than 8 years somehow. It's extremely unlikely and I'll worry about it when the signs of it are stronger or nearer. Right now, I don't think there's a chance of it happening this decade. So all these videos about it are just people talking about an idea and knowing that it would get a few clicks and draw a bit more interest to their channel or whatever they are selling.
If the government owns the means of production, it is Socialism, no matter where it is. If a single person is in charge of the government it is authoritarian, no matter where it is. There is a set of rules we all abide by. The number 1 stands for a single unit of something in all cultures. The same holds for systems of governance. Since we all have a shared understanding of what these terms mean, we can compare our systems across countries and cultures. To argue otherwise is to suggest something like because the North Koreans don't consider themselves to be authoritarian, then we have to take their word for it, which is nonsense.
This ain't no party... This aint no disco... I dont think it will happen, but we sure as hell are a whole lot closer than we were 20 years ago. If things don't change in our discourse the outlook becomes progressively worse. I could think of several outcomes in the next election that could light a fire. I could see nothing changing and it happening in 10 or 20 years. Before Occupy Walstreet I didnt think Americans were motivated to organize on that scale. Before Katrina, I didnt think the government would abandon an entire city, even for just a while. Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, unified Germany seemed about as likely as a second American civil war.
Well, if you had watched any of it, you would have seen that they present different scenarios, some more extreme than others. Perhaps the extreme seems unlikely; the less extreme, more likely.
Huh. The hits just keep coming. It isn't just me positing this stuff. Just last night, Tim Pool talked about a leftist who is predicting Civil War. So this isn't necessarily (only) some right wing revenge fantasy. This stuff is in the air, whether some folks here think it is or not.
