We are not promise to receive the 1st or 2nd pick with the worst records the league….it’s a lottery….nobody knows. we need to try to win and develop our young guys the right way. I do not trust that tall guy from France, most guys that tall usually are always hurt….most guys over 7 feet are historically always hurt. No! We need to win now! We need a real point guard: -to set up the offense -to help develop Jalen -to help Jabari to set up good shot selection. -to pass the ball to Sengun when he is open. -a real point guard not a ball hawk or play hero ball
I think it is the former. With the latter, you would see Silas giving some sort of reaction during or after the games. Also the rest of the team would be moving better, you would be seeing more structure etc. He basically knows not much other than set a screen and let the guard create something. And for that creation, there is no plan about what the other players are doing.
It just doesn't make sense. How can Silas be content with what KPJ is doing, especially when he even acknowledges the frustration that he's seeing. Doesn't he get that it's KPJ starting to cause that frustration?
Silas wanted to take the ball out of Harden’s hands. He then wanted to have Oladipo run the offense and extend him to a long term contract. Silas also has harped on Sengun’s limitations but has groomed KPJ to be the ball handler, creator and primary scorer. At some point you just have to accept that either he isn’t great at what he does, he does exactly what the front office wants and takes the blame or has the worst luck of any coach to walk the planet. I for one don’t think any of the three possibilities are qualities I want in my NBA head coach. Let Silas work in the front office (not scouting).
He is probably thinking, he is 'developing' kpj. and things will click for him at some point and all will be worth it. Our other main tools in offense is green isos, sengun post-ups, ego drives and pull-up 3s, and recently green-sengun pnr. All individual plays and the last one is pnr. When Sengun post-ups he finds the open man, because he is good at it. But they have no plan on how to get someone open, make someone cut off of a screen etc. No structure at anything. Silas has nothing but pnr and isos.
Developing KPJ would be getting him to get his teammates are getting involved in the offense. Even if Silas wants to turn him into the next Donic, KPJ has to get his teammates involved.
Lol, look at these comments: * no organization * cant box out * don't know whether to go over/under screens * don't know where they should be on offense * no one consistently back to prevent fast breaks * don't know whether to be aggressive or passive * can't make a simple pass to move the ball along Any of them seem familiar?!?! This was 2 weeks after the start of LAST season....
