This is the JVG Hater vs. the JVG Lover thread. I think the lines are drawn and clear as to which side most posters are on. If JVG wants to stay in Houston he's going to have to move into another role. Something like coffee boy for Morey or jock-strap picker upper. In all seriousness JVG hasn't done squat in Houston except flame out in the 1st round a couple of times. He's done after this year if the team is lotto bound or flames out again injuries or no injuries.
I pray on a regular basis for JVG to leave us the hell alone. His "slightly better than 500" winning percentage is crap from my perspective. I'm more interested in finding a coach who's on the rise, with legitimate and creative ideas on how to use players developed in this century, with plays designed for 2006/07 NBA rather than the throwback, defense is everything philosophy of JVG. As far as I'm concerned the door cannot hit VG in the backside soon enough!!! Even with Bowen starting at PF in the playoffs, we had a 2-0 games lead on Dallas and during game five, in our building, the man could NOT figure out a play to get us a GD basket to save our lives. We went more than five minutes without a freakin basket in the 4th quarter and that was WITH YAO, TMAC AND MJ ON THE COURT!!!! When are the VG apologists going to realize that he was simply outcoached for the last three games of that series!!! This guy is NOT the answer at Coach, and I'm not sure he would be even if we add the PF and PG we've all wanted!!!
Geez... no good coach ever let their team lose after racking up a significant series lead, right? Ask Phil Jackson what happened in games 5, 6, and 7 against the Suns. Ask Avery Johnson what happened in the finals. These guys should be fired right away and replaced with a coach who is on the rise.
Im so tired of Van Gundy haters like you. Just b/c of one season, you want him fired! But in all seriousness, you cant blame him for 2006. That was a unlucky season. I would like to have Phil Jackson but lets see what happens
