This is a tough issue, as the Rockets have really needed Chuck Hayes the last couple of years and he has played his heart out. It is hard not to reward a guy like Chuck Hayes after all he has done. That said, for the Rockets to step up to the next level, Chuck Hayes has to come off of the bench and see his minutes substantially reduced. How much do you pay him as a backup power forward/center? Unfortunately for him, that is what he is likely to be classified as during his upcoming contract negotiations, even though he has been a starter over the last two years.
Chuck would be the starting C for 3 of the top 5 teams in the NBA right now. I'm glad none of you are GM, lmao.
not crying for anyone who makes millions, so lets just get that out of the way. Just saying the guy deserves more credit than he recieves. And to the jack hole who asked if i was his agent? what do you think?
Given that his 6'6 and playing in the front court, nothing over 3 mill per year. If someone offers him more than that, then bye bye chuck ... you'll be missed.
Love the Chuckwagon; he's smart, tough, skilled and hard working. I'm glad he's a Rocket and I hope he stays one for a long time. For anyone who says he has no offense, dude had 19pts against the Hawks the other night; he has worked hard on his shot and it shows.
If I based my decisions (in any facet of life) on others' opinions (like the GMs you're talking about) I'd probably be homeless right now instead of making 6 figures. Try thinking for yourself once in a while, I know it can be hard.
Yeah, what do those other GMs know about basketball, right? This is coming from the guy who said this: Please tell me that "lmao" at the end of your post above means that you weren't being serious. If you were being serious, I'm done for the day.
An elite defender that is becoming a solid post option, a fantasic passer with a fantastic basketball brain? I would say quite a bit. I think he is more effective than Scola at the end of the day.
If the Rockets don't trade for a star player by early free agency then I'd prefer they let him walk and leave the cap space open for 2012.
If chuck was 6-11 he wouldn't have been an undrafted player we picked up . Anyways I'd love to see him as a starting PF next to a legit big that can play D. Our opponents points in the paint would be terrible. Atleast letting him be 1st off the bench behind a center at PPat in the future getting starter minutes. I saw give him the MLE and trade Scola for what we can get.
Okay, give me some specifics...who or what in particular can the Rockets get in exchange for Chuck Hayes?
Chuck Hayes has to retire a Rocket. Then become a coach. Then move to the front office. Thats how much he means to the Houston Rockets.
Chuck isn't a center, what part of that don't you idiots get. He is forced to play center here because we don't have one. If chuck hayes played the 4 next to a real center he would be spectacular. Unfortunately we can't offer that. If we had a real center i would take him over scola of Ppat any day of the week. There not a PF in this league he won't shut down. Without a real center, hes not worth a lot to us. Package Ppat for a center, resign chuck and move him to the 4, and resign Yao as a risk/reward backup (nothing more), Our defense will skyrocket with a shot blocker behind chuck.
