Ben wallace turned this team into a legitimate title contender. Tough rebounding and defense is all they were missing. I think the Cavs at least push the celtics to 6 or 7 games. I would not be surprised if the Cavs represent the east in the Finals this year.
The Cavs were an outstanding rebounding and defensive team last year, probably the best in last year's playoffs. They shut down the Pistons, as well as slowed down the Spurs more than anyone else. Their problem with the Spurs wasn't stopping or controlling the Spurs offense, it was their own offensive production. What the Cavs are missing is offense. They do have the best player in the league, but their other guys are so inferior to other players on elite teams they ultimately will probably hold that team back. But I will say they are the only team in the East with a shot to beat the Celtics. They can play defense and board, so if Lebron goes crazy for the series, they got a shot. Boston will chew up Orlando/Detroit will little problem.
Interesting opinions, but when the Celts turn up the defense, the Cavs won't score. It will be like the Finals last year except the Cavs might win a game (or two if they are very very lucky). Like someone said, the refs couldn't save LeBron against the Spurs and certainly won't against the star-studded Celtics. Even more than King James, the NBA wants KG, PP, Ray Allen and THE CELTICS in the NBA Finals. They can't afford to have the Cavs flopping around like dead fish again. Even David Stern said in public the Finals last year were a disappointment.
I have had a lot of interest in this series. I am leaning towards wanting Washington to win but if Cleveland wins, that wouldn't be a bad thing as I like Lebron. I do think though that the Wizards give the Celtics more matchup problems than the Cavs. But I don't see anyone from the east beating the Celtics.
I bumped this back up because I honestly think the Cavs will win the East and perhaps more. These guys were injured, had the big trade, and have finally settled in. Cleveland should have beaten Boston in that first game, but I think they will regroup and take them down eventually over the course of the series. "The Sleeper has awakened."
Watching yesterday's game, I gonna say JVG offense looks real good than Mike Brown offense. Also, Delonte West sucks. If the Cavs have Rafer Alston in yesterday's game instead of West, they should have won the game already. Even the Cavs lost game 1, but they already know they can/will beat the Celtics. Cavs in 7.
I like that Doc lets 11 players play. They are really deep: Posey, Powe, Davis, Cassell, House, and Tony Allen off the bench all play regularly. Not to mention PJ Brown is there too.
