+1 I'm not sold on giving up Scola but I would give up Brooks and Landry with Mac for an All Star player like Bosh.
no to amare. we are THIS close to getting rid of our me-first, overpaid, chronically injured, bad attitude, no-defense playing superstar and you guys want to go get another one? *facepalm.
LMAO @ OP, Scola himself is much more valuable than Stoudemire IMHO, not to mention tmac's expiring contract. J-Rich looks like a decent SG with nice stats, but he has never helped his team get through the 2nd round in postseason and his trail in Phoenix has already been proven a failure. Roughly J-Rich is not fit for a team based on team work and chemistry, so he is not an ideal component for the Rockets. As the ROY in 02-03 season, Amare is undoubtedly a better player than Yao but I don't think he will make the Rockets a bit better. What Nash means to Amar'e is just like what Paul is to Tyson chandler, so it can be expected that Amare won't do much good on the Rockets team which has no such good PGs to feed him balls and assist him for slams and alley-oops. Scola has meshed with us well and is more fit for our team, Amare may achieve more accomplishments through his career than scola does but I still would rather retain scola.
This whole "Amare NEEDS Nash" notion is already exaggerated but you just took it to a whole new extreme by trying to compare him to Tyson Chandler.
I'd take Amare, but it would have to depend on what we would have to give up. Amare and Yao would be a sick combo.
Whaaaa? Tyson Chandler can't hit a jumpshot. Amare is a great midrange jumpshooter with a quick and high release so he doesn't require the open space that Scola needs to get his jumper off. AND ANYONE WOULD BE BETTER WITH STEVE NASH! Amare is an amazing athlete with great explosion, excellent footwork, he's 6' 11" and extremely strong. He is very difficult to player to guard one on one. I think Yao could benefit playing alongside a more athletic PF that can hit the midrange jumper. I guarantee you Yao would see less double teams. I love Luis Scola. He is tenacious, unselfish, virtually injury proof, has excellent footwork, solid jumper, great finisher and smart. But, he doesn't demand double teams against most matchups. For the NBA, he is slow and not athletic. Yao is the same and could use an athletic counterpart to matchup better with athletic big frontcourts. I agree with J-Rich not being a good fit, especially for the price. Anyway, I suggested Barbosa as he can make an excellent 6th man, maybe not ideal, but to get a talent like Stoudamire, it might be worth it.
Scola may not be as good as Amare as far as pure talent is concerned, but Scola is also only making 3 million this year. As far as I know Amare is making the Max (around 16 million) this year. So is Amare 5x as good as Scola? With Scola, you have a solid player, great team mate, and enough cap space to sign yet another marque player at another position. With Amare, you have...just Amare, a player who pouted all season long, had an eye injury, had arthroscopic surgery, doesn't play defense, and didn't work well at all with one of the best low post scorers in history. You really want to pay franchise money to non-franchise people? No thanks.
I'm not down with trading Scola OR Brooks for anyone accept for a package with CP3, Chandler and Posey. The Rockets could put together a package of T-Mac, Battier, Landry, Brooks, draft picks, cash and whatever throwins it would take.
Scola is way underpaid so no I don't think Amare is 5X as good as Luis. I would rather keep Scolandry and find a superstar wingman but that doesn't seem as realistic. All I know is the Rox need another superstar that can command a double team to win a championship. Also, they need a better matchup with the Laker's frontline. To me, Stoudamire could fit the bill. He is a legitimate superstar talent. He came back from microfracture, he's 25 years old with only 3 years left on his contract and in the right system could play better defense. My greatest reservation is his pouting but I don't think he's a T-Mac. I think it says something about his commitment that he came back from microfracture, overcame a lot of adversity in his life (he's an orphan), and has played well in the playoffs. It's no surprise that Team Morey had him as their #1 target before the trade deadline. This guy has the potential to be Hall of Fame material.
I believe Morey has something better in the works. No way does he trade most of our youth (Brooks, Landry, Scola) for Amare plus whoever. Even though Amare is an excellent talent, due to financial circumstance cash strapped team cannot make demands they would usaually make during a normal economy. My friends, the Rockets are in a very rare opportunity here. They are a organization that has the following: 1. Making money 2. Will continue to make money 3. Has a very enticing expring contract. Because if T-Mac comes back at even 80% the team gets a return in their investment. 4. The Rockets has 4 or 5 young player that are promising so adding one or two of them is a GREAT exchange for any cash strapped team looking to get something in return. Yes there are teams that can offer better package talent wise for Amare, CP3, or any of these trades we have been discussing. But can they match talent wise and cap relief wise? Probably not.
man,Amare is an all star ,ok. but scola and landry is nothing till now so IMO if possible we need to sacrifice one or both of them to get Amare. I do believe Amare and yao will be a great
I'm not sure a guy like Amare is worth having on this team. His defense is poor. His rebounding is poor. His offense is dominant - which will be wasted with Yao in the post as well. Both of them will suffer and our slashers won't be able to get to the rim with both of them inside. His value would be making jumpers and second chance points. He doesn't bring anything else that we need. I'm not sure that's worth trading for him. This is unless we trade Chuck and one of the PF's in the process. I can see him starting at PF but also playing 12-15 minutes behind Yao. It's a great option to have. But I'm not sure it's worth the money for OUR team, that's all. He is a poor defender, rebounder, and shotblocker for his size/position. He's shown that he struggles with Shaq in the post despite phenomenal outside shooting from his team. If we decided to sit yao for every back to back and reduce his minutes to 32 and get rid of Chuck and one of the PF's, then it could work. That's a lot of if's. I'd much rather pursue Camby or Chandler as they bring things which our team lacks - great shotblocking ability, lower cost, excellent rebounding and willingness to play just 25-30 minutes.
Amare Stoudamire... that is a big if and maybe. do we really want to trade for a player that played 53 games this past season. Went through a similar procedure that Tmac went through but Amare's was on a weight bearing part. Uhmmmm no thanks. If there is someone to loot I would hope it would be the OK Thunder. Kevin Durant is the guy I want on the Rockets roster. Efficient both inside and outside. Tall and still has lots of room to grow and learn. The kid could pick up some things from Artest.
Seems like an athletic, aggressive shooting guard who can shoot 40% from the 3 pt line is exactly what we need.
Amare is the perfect PF for Adelman. A lot of the things Adelman does with Yao that a lot of us complain about are things that should be done with guys like Amare and Bosh. If we were to trade him for Tmac, and say Landry OR Scola. That's win right there. Yeah we still don't have a player on the wing who can score, but hopefully we'd still have Brooks and Artest. That's enough when you have Amare and Yao in the post. Best thing is we can go small with Amare at Center and Brooks or Lowry at point and become a completely different team. Like how the Lakers put in Odom and play Gasol at Center. I'd trade for him, but not give up Brooks and both PFs and Tmac...that's a lot.
