Cato+Williams+KT+#13 pick for G. Robinson and E. Johnson The Bucks can pick L. Woods at #13 and they'll then have a much better frontcourt in Woods, KT, and Tim Thomas. we can get Haywood at #18 and T. Hassell at #22. The lineup could be: Haywood, Johnson Webber(or Taylor), Collier Robinson, Langhi, Bullard Mobley, Hassell (or Anderson, Mobley) Francis, Norris ------------------ Yes I'm new here
Hard Rock - Your trade doesn't work capwise. Even if it did, I don't see the Bucks breaking up an EC finalist for Loren Woods and scraps. Like it or not, the Rockets are STUCK with Kelvin Cato and that may be the only case for him. ------------------ Raef to Rocks in '01-'02! Au contraire, mon frere! With the naive overlords in NY moving the NBA into 75 ppg territory next year by allowing zones, Cato suddenly becomes a potential starter. Cato's main problems, aside from the fact that he sometimes forgets he's on a basketball team, have been: * foul trouble caused by poor defensive fundamentals, leading to limited minutes and poor attitude; * poor offensive skills that make him a liability on the other end of the floor. In a zone, the center is assumed to be the second option offensively. You either break the zone with outside shooting (with Cato rebounding some missed?) or drive and dish (and while Cato can't do anything else, he can dunk). Hakeem's greater skills give us the flexibility of running him out to the high post and using his good passing and outstanding shooting in a strategic position on the floor. Defensively, I'd love to see the Rockets at least try starting Cato alongside Hakeem in a 2-3 zone (or a box and one against a team like LA or Philly). Since Hakeem would not have to muscle the Shaqs of the world (Cato's job) he could get more mileage out of his aging legs, and since Cato would not have to move more than six feet from the bucket, his defensive liabilities would be considerably camoflaged. (We will have Collier around, too, and that's six more fouls to use in the paint!) In addition, if this scenario worked, it would free the Rox to pursue other options in the draft, like Gerald Wallace and Pau Gasol, instead of Brenda Haywood. ------------------ If you don't remember the ABA, you don't know basketball. "Cato+Williams+KT+#13 pick for G. Robinson and E. Johnson The Bucks can pick L. Woods at #13 and they'll then have a much better frontcourt in Woods, KT, and Tim Thomas." ((sigh)) surely you're kidding right? hmmm, let's give up 2 starting players on an nba finalist-to-be squad - one of which is a pure scorer that can pass, and the other of which is a good defender/rebounder for basically 3 scrubs and a #13. mmmhmmmmm. yea, you were kidding. i know. had to be.
1.)Cato($6M)+Williams($5M)+KT($0.94M)=$11.94M Robinson($8.99M)+Johnson($2.4M)=$11.39 the deal is perfect for capwise 2.)Robinson and Johnson have been on the block for a long time. I remember that 1~2 years ago the Bucks had offered Robinson for #33 before we ship him to Portland. Everyone in Milwakee knows that Karl doesn't like Johnson. Johnson is a good rebounder/defender and always plays w/ intensity but for some reason Karl just doesn't like this guy. Just like we'll like Carlos and hope to see more PT for him but Rudy just doesn't like him and will let him go for nothing in return. 3.)the Bucks have 2 stars at the 3 spot and in need of some kind of inside presence. it make sense to trade one of the SF for some big men(#13 pick, Cato, KT) 4.)Tim Thomas is playing behind Robinson. I think Thomas will ask for starting next season and that will force Karl to move Robinson. 5.)Kenny Thomas isn't a "scrub". he got skills and he's young. even Duncan said KT will be a special one in a few years. 6.)#13 pick in a deep draft is valueable. I have to admit that this deal is not likely to happen though. I'm just trying to have fun in this no Rox so boring off-season. so don't take it too serious. ------------------ Yes I'm new here
Hard Rock - You have neglected one key point in your arithmetic - Cato is currently a FULL BYC. When the Rockets go under the cap, Cato is still a 3/4 BYC player. Go to RealGM as I did and you will see that he trade does NOT work capwise. ------------------ GATER
The trade doesn't work capwise because the season isn't over yet. In the "Off-Season" all trades will be calculate based on next season's salary status. and Cato's salary is $6M for next season. ------------------ Yes I'm new here
I think most people in here prefer realistic trades. There's no way in hell Karl trades away one of the big 3 after this playoff run. If Tim Thomas doesn't like being on the bench, they'll trade him before Robinson. Remember a year ago Allen Iverson was being offered up in trades, do you think the Sixers are still shopping him? ------------------ "Empire" had the better ending. I Don't think any team will take cato unless #!we agree to take some player just as bad with a big contract or #2 We agree to continue to pay part or most of his remaining contract Otherwise no other team will touch him First Malony then Cato I think it is time we get a new G.M. ------------------
Every team has a player with a bad contract. If you want to get rid of CD for 2 bad contracts, then the rest of the GM's in the league should go too. ------------------ "Empire" had the better ending. I Guess your right cd isn't that bad of a GM and the rockets should keep him but with cato he should of discuesed a new contract about 3 months after he sighned him to see how cato would perform with more minutes.you don't give a player a 6 year 42 million doller contract after just one good preseason game and before comming to the rockets catos best year was 3.7ppg 3rpg for portland and we will be paying malony's contract until 2003-2004 the main reason I was wrong was Steave Frances, Barkly, and Pippen trades Thoughs were vary good trades. :O ------------------
I read on bskbll.com that Rudy has found a taker for Cato. I don't know how valid it is, but I won't be suprised if something happened on Draft Day or before. ------------------ Stevierebel
