Why does everyone keep on talking about this "case for keeping Cato?" Is this some strange sort of black comedy? Perhaps an inspirational video for masochists? A logic puzzle for Stephen Hawking?

Does anyone else here realize that Cato's salary covers the salary for 2 of the top 5 picks in the draft???????

Hoop-T,I think Haywood also could turn out to be another Cato, which would further aggravate the situation instead of solving the problem at center.

So let me get this straight, you want to keep Mr. Glass because he blocked a couple of shots on perhaps the most dominating center in the league.

I understand that having a shotblocking center could help, and having someone hold Shaq would help, but the Rockets need to get to the playoffs first.

Paying seven million dollars a year to a guy who says,"I don't always focus out there", "I don't always come to play 100%, sometimes just 80%", and other embarassing comments. I make an honest living, it isn't much, but I bust my ass for it. There is absolutely no excuse for Mr. Glass to be subpar.

At least if he tried, busted his high-paid ass in practice, and still sucked in the game, I could at least give him some respect.

Cato should not be retained, that is simply the case.

I didn't know there was a case for Cato. I thought that case was closed long ago. That guy's gotta go!

I will be the first to admit that Kelvin Cato to this point has been a waste of sperm (and 42 million dollars). But there is no way we can get rid of him and not get a shot blocker in return. Lets face it, every elite team in this conference is building themselves to beat Shaq and the Lakers. The only people who have remotely slowed Shaq in the playoffs to this point are the Twin Towers last night. (That is until Robinson got into foul trouble and Shaq toasted Malik Rose.) Cato has played Shaq well in his match-ups with him and with the zone coming in next year Cato will become even more of a commodity (we hope). Perhaps we should hold on to Cato for one more year and draft another defensive center (Ken Johnson) with one of our latter picks. At least we'll have two shot blockers and12 fouls to use on Shaq.

No offense, but once again, I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE!!!

If I had a say, I would trade Cato for a 2nd round pick, anything, so long as he is off the cap and somewhere else. He's a COMPLETE non-factor, a shot-blocker who doesn't work hard enough to block shots, and is the easiest Rocket to replace.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would move Cato as soon as possible and re-sign Pig Miller if I had to. At least Pig plays hard and contributes!

Winning & laziness are both contagious. Cato is one of the greatest waste of talents around. He needs to go away.

I use to think Irvin Johnson, Jim McIlvane, and Manute Bol were wastes of height .. . then comes Cato.

Irvin is looking credible. . .
Can we trade Cato for Manute?

    Forreal Potential is killing us
We know he has it. . . we know he can use it
but he won't and it kills us. . ..

I thought we were trading Cato, Walt, and a 2nd-round pick in 2005 for the #1 pick? I didn't know we were thinking about keeping him.

Kelvin Cato was a waste a $6 million per season, similar to the Scottie Pippen deal. I'm beginning to question Carroll Dawson's ability to handle veteran players and if we given Hakeem $10 million over 5 years, CD should be examined for mental instability.

Kelvin Cato did not show any consistency to be rewarded with a $6 million a year deal.

From a draft perspective, I would recommend the folloing. I would trade the 13th and 18th pick to move up and select Shane Battier if he doesn't go first. At number22 I would select Chris Marcus from Western Kentucky, he's 7'1" and has excellent footwork, similar to Hakeem's when he entered the league. He is very mature and would provide an immediate presence in the middle.

I would obtain Webber and Doug Christie with a sign and trade for Cato, Walt Williams (no defense)and Maurice Taylor and throw in a first round if that's what it takes.

    13. Richard Jefferson, great defense, better shooting ability than Shandon Anderson
    18.

Cato is better than we will get in return for him, imo. We would get shafted just like in the Pipen deal that brought him here, only Cato isn't forcing us to trade him. He is at least good for some alley-oop duncks and a bloked shot or two. It is not like he is making the max. What other center can we get for Cato money that will contribute more?

The Kings are very high on Christie, as he is on them. I do not think he will be leaving.

    lol!

yes, and remember, if we do indeed trade him for a ham sandwich, all we need is one hand, anyhow.

I still maintain hope...If/when Hakeem leaves, and Cato plays alongside a superstar PF (who cud that be? [IMG] ), THEN we'll start to see what he can do. He'll be muhc more productive, adn the new rules only help him.

Have faith, but pickup Diop or Curry if given the chance [IMG]
