Back when this thread was started I thought about posting in it. I wanted to say that although I thought ME was hitting well I still wanted to see Blum get some AB's because he hasn't exactly sucked. But after the last 2 or 3 days it is hard for me to see how we can keep ME out of the lineup. He ha sdone exactly what they thought he was going to do last year, he just waited until this season to kick it in. I really feel sorry for BLum because he has done way more than I expected from him when he was picked up. I would say let him play some short but everett has been good and has actually done some nice things offensively. I think the "Stros are decfinitely in one of those stretches where a lot of guys have it going. They need to keep that up and hope that we can get Bags going with them. CK
This team is really starting to come around. Ensberg is playing like a man and should definately get the majority of the PT. No way you can take that guy out right now the way he is jacking the ball. Once Lane gets healthy again I would like to see him take Hunter's place in the outfield. Not counting tonights performance he hasn't been very effective this year.
For comparison's sake: Ensberg: .333 BA, .435 OBP, .656 SLG, $300K salary Mike Lowell: .302 BA, .360 OBP, .621 SLG, $3.7M Scott Rolen: .291 BA, .408 OBP, .553 SLG, $7.625M *Vinny Castilla (for rezdawg ): .276 BA, .318 OBP, .458 SLG, $5M Keep in mind that these other guys have twice the AB's as ME, and to expect him to continue at this pace is unfair. *Damn you Drayton! Why can't we keep some of these "proven veteran" free agents around? Cheap b*stard.
Buck, your evidence strengthens my case.... Vinny!! Vinny!! Vinny!! For those of you that are confused...Im kidding.
Screw Morgan!! He's taking RBI opportunities away from Bagwell, who happens to be on my fantasy team!!
Ensberg's projected #s with 500 ABs: .340 125 Runs 50 HRs 155 RBIs I asked this question earlier. Is he still considered a rookie? He was last year and hardly got any time up here.
It's so great that our IF has become so solidified. All-star veterans on the right, young studs on the left. codell's numbers confirm it- Ensberg has been playing like a superstar. His glove has been solid, his bat has been spectacular, and he's even making plays on the basepaths. When Hidalgo comes back, and boosts our OF defense as well as gives some protection behind Berkman, this team is going to be rocking. I just wish we could get some starters behind Roy and Wade. Robertson was going great and then fell apart. How long before Hunsicker goes retro and decides to call up Rosario?
I hope Ensberg finally just gets the job, as he should have last year. Blum has never been anything better than mediocre. Ensberg always had a better shot. "The Case for Ensberg" is pretty damned easy to make. I'd really enjoy seeing someone try to offer a "case for Blum." It would make for good entertainment...
