it is pure speculation that all toronto wants is Hill and fillers. I'll believe it when I see it. If it takes giving up either Scola or Brooks, neither are worth it.
The only way you target Al Jefferson is if the T-Wolves want a salary dump. His post-injury regression and inability to get to the FT is very troublesome. Sure, he's very skilled and would make us a lot better but he clearly hasn't been the same player since the knee injury. Plus, he's a bit of a chucker too. If the Bosh scenario falls through and no better options present themselves, if the T-Wolves agree to some sort of salary dump + minor sweeteners that's the type of deal to consider. Unfortunately, David Kahn may be an idiot but he's probably not THAT inept to actually fork over his best player for expirings. It's unlikely but I suppose stranger things have happened.
Jefferson is "much worse" than Bosh? What?? Last season before his injury, he averaged a double-double, scoring 23 ppg and getting 11 rpg, despite him playing at Center when I would rather see him as a Power Foward (he is 6-10!). Bosh this season averaged 24 ppg and 10.8 rpg. Not much of a difference, is there? I have no problem with people saying that they think Bosh is the better player. But saying Jefferson is "simply much worse" than Bosh is just - excuse me - bull****.
Anyone that thinks we should judge these guys on winning seasons and team success is silly... Pau Gasol. Also I would give up Scola if we get to keep Hill. Bosh is about 2 levels above Scola no matter how much people overrate Scola here.
I really love Jefferson's game, but his attitude is a major red flag. Any player who put's up numbers on terrible teams concerns me. Minnesota isn't just bad they are terrible.
Jefferson can score on the blocks and from 15ft. You have to think and err on the side that yao may not come back or if he does he will be very limited. It doesn't take alot to invert the offense and when jefferson is backside with martin and brooks outside, there will be alot of offensive rebound chances. The problem with getting bosh is there are teams so far under the cap that toronto doesn't have to take contracts back or at least bad one. Not only that, the rockets have to get up to 13m in salaries which means probably hill and chase along with the 14th,andersen,and either shane or jeffries. Alot of people i think make too much about being on losing teams and I've said this before.Brand was the same player playing on those awful bulls and clipps teams as he was going to the 2nd rd and being a mvp candidate. The difference was better players around him and stability in the front office. Danny granger is a very good player, but his team sucks. KG,Allen and Pierce all played on teams that won 30 games their last 2 years before they hooked up and won a title. Were they good players putting up stats on bad teams? I've always said its more difficult to be the bull on a poor team. When teams come in with you as the main focus, they focus their entire defensive effort towards you as a player. Jefferson on the rockets would be part of a biggge dynamic. The team wouldn't be in the hole if he didn't score everytime down the floor because they have others. Adelman would be the best coach he ever played for and the rockets would be the best organization with a tradition of winning. Look at how pumped martin was to leave Sac-town to come to the rockets. Its like getting new life and a breathe of fresh air and does wonders. His injury history concerns me just as do martin and yao's, but i guess if martin and yao is included in this run, whats one more guy?
Well, the Wolves are my favorite team behind the Rockets (of course), and I saw maybe half of their games last season. They just didn't have a consistent three-point shooting, and only a post-game (Big Al, Love) is not enough to win. However, I really like Al and Love. I mean, Love's outlet passes are simply amazing. No player in this league can throw outlet passes like him. He is also one of the best rebounders in the NBA. Jefferson might have the best postmoves in this league. However, he is a little undersized as a center and needs to improve his FT shooting. He is not that type of player that will overpower his opponent. But as much as I like him, I think Bosh would fit better in our system. If Yao is healthy, we need somebody with a good midrange jumper; Bosh is without a doubt better in this category. If Yao gets injured again, I would be very happy with Big Al as center, too.
Hill, 2 picks, and fillers. 2 first round, likely high first round, don't exactly come cheap. We spent 6 million on 3 early to mid 2nd rounders last year. How much would 3 lotto picks (what they could potentially have with Hill +2 picks) go for?
Love Jefferson but he has a worst health history then Yao. If we are going to trade for a quality big, it should either be Marc Gasol, Josh Smith or maybe Pryzbilla.
