I don't think Lin will be benched. Last game McHale went with what he thought works best against the Mavs lineup. Next game he will go with what he thinks works best against them. It is way too early to give up on Lin. Perhaps they want to give him more rest to get fully healthy and comfortable again - perhaps he will play 40 minutes next game. In my opinion, our record doesn't matter this year. Sure, playoffs would be great, but we won't do much noise there anyways. That's why I'd love the coaches to not coach to win, but to coach to improve the team. That means play the rookies when they are ready, don't overplay Harden and find out how to "fix" Lin. Unfortunately coaches prefer to win, because their jobs are on the line...
Winning should come first in the minds of the coaches and the front office staff. Glorifying one players stats to get international recognition sets a bad precedent.
That is exactly my point I wrote on another thread. FO and coaches have to agree on a plan and stick with it. As long as the team play a team ball I do not think any fan will complain because it is fun to watch all players get involved.
Thanks a lot for your insight based on personal experience! ALL SUBSEQUENT POSTS HAVE BEEN RAMPANT SPECULATION.
Nice post, I live in Asia myself and what you said is true, after the retirement of Yao the Asian fans are looking for other teams of the nba to follow. They're attracted by the teams that are champions or real contenders like the Lakers, Miami, okc, the bulls. When Linsanity happened, people can relate to lin due to his underdog story, him being American Chinese and a role model for their children. Now, i know that he hasn't been playing consistently well but i can see fans here are just worried by the way he is being used and start to loose interests in watching the Roxx games. I imagine it will affect the revenue in some ways.
If that case, you as a fan should use all your power to alter both Morey's and Les' s plan. Morey said it again and again.
What a garbage excuse. Have you seen Asik setting screens this year? He's probably the best in the league. Lin has had his chances attacking the Rim and guess what happens? Brick, turnover or no foul call. Blame the refs now.
I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe if you didn't *rolleyes* so much you could coherently describe your position.
this is simple: rockets ownership people who make money = play lin rockets fans who just want to see us win = bench lin
One business impact I can think of is other players will think twice, and twice again, before agreeing to come here. Remember how Morey courted Lin in July? Second chance and Fourth of July and cr@p like that? Invited the twitter world to convince Lin to come back? How Lin was impressed with his sales pitch? The press conference on signing day? The banner on the Rockets site? The billboards? It all changed after two games into the season, when Lin was still playing well. We're now about 1/4 into the season, and Lin was kicked to the curb. And Lin was not the only one. Apparently Lowry was kicked to the curb after a month of illness. Which superstar is coming here?
Now. May be you should should clarify your post first. Morey basically said Rockets is a rebuilt team. We need more players to win more games. Rockets FO did not expect this team will be in playoff. If making it, that will be nice. If not, big deal!
Just relax, Lin just needs to get his shooting back and things will get better. If not then they just have to trade him. Ideally i'd love to see him succeed and prove the haters wrong.
So tell me how: Morey saying the Rockets are a rebuilt team, and not expected to be in the playoffs = Team is not trying to win games.
