LOL...Hello Kitty? Really? Actually it was Obakeno Q.

I'm not laughing so much at your second question associating me with a liar.

But carry on if you must.

I'm just saying you think that qualifies you to be an expert on Japanese culture or etiquette?

Are you saying Japanese player bowing to a coach or an emperor bowing to shrine even how low it is is perfectly normal

but then a head of state bows as low as the baseball players or emperor mentioned above suddenly looks poor and looks like he's toppling over?

Playing along, if you look at Obama's posture it is different than the Japanese examples you cited. They look a lot more stable, probably because they are used to bowing and Obama isn't. As far as how low you bow that depends on the context. Obama isn't expected to bow very low.

I never ever said I was an expert in Japanese culture or etiquette. That would be very foolish of me. But I think I know just a little bit more than the average joe on this board.

Lets rehash some old stuff in this thread. Somebody earlier suggested that nobody cares. I pointed out some do. And everything I typed since then has been only my opinion and I prefaced so. When I say I care, I'm not representing the whole Republican party, just me. So please take off your party glasses for a bit and try to understand what I'm trying to say here.

I have tried so hard to tell you this was never about making our President look bad. (I don't have that reputation) This has only been about how I perceive a bow and expectations I have for our President to be able to do this correctly. All that is on me. (whoa sh!tza...who do I sound like?)

I don't know what qualifications you are expecting me to have to voice an opinion but let's see if any of these help: I am half Japanese. I happened to have grown up in the Pacific with the majority of years in Japan and Okinawa (didn't move here till I was 17). I have watched a generation of Japanese relatives grow up. I love and eat up Japanese history (love the 16th century) and culture. I pay an extra $35 a month to watch the Japanese channel NHK. I love the Japanese side of me. And to the subject at hand, family, here and there, have already discussed this bow, which helped make my opinion.

Does any of that qualifies me as an expert in Japanese etiquette? Probably not. But it's kind of hard to qualify an opinion...unless you're looking for a certificate, which I have none.

Having said all that, I did enjoy the banter with you yesterday. I learned a few things about myself and posting that I hope will make me a better poster.

So in the words of all mighty DD, Cheers!

Now that's cool, and somewhat unexpected.

Americans Overwhelmingly Say Obama Bowing To Japanese Emperor Was Appropriate -- Even In A Fox Poll

Despite a lot of complaining by conservatives, the American people don't actually have any problem with President Obama bowing to the Emperor of Japan -- and that's according to the new Fox News poll.

Respondents were asked: "When the president of the United States is traveling overseas, do you think it is appropriate for him to bow to a foreign leader if that is the country's custom or is it never appropriate for the president to bow to another leader?"

The numbers: Appropriate 67%, Never appropriate 26%. Even a majority of Republican respondents were okay with the bow, by a 53%-40% margin. Democrats weigh in at 84%-9%, and independents 62%-30%.

Good question. A real man would have thrown her a punch to the ribs then rammed her face into his knee... and as she lay bloody and delirious on the ground, he would say, "I'm the President b****! I don't need no stinking city key... now, where are these strip clubs I hear so much about?"
