The chance of Yao exercising his player option after an entire year off is about as slim as T-mac ever putting on a Rockets jersey

that's great and all, but you're only looking at it from the teams POV. Why would yao opt out? To basically quit on the Raptors? That's not like Yao. He's likely to accept he was dealt and play out his contract. Also, he's got something to lose, while Bosh not so much. Bosh can opt out and he's going to get BIG money. He's got all the leverage in negotiations because he deserves the money. Yao? He's been injured. That's a lot of leverage for teams to try and give him less money. Therefore Yao is more inclined to keep the player option to continue his current contract.

Whos going to give Yao a large AND long term contract this summer? Maybe someone will, but it's far from a sure thing and there will be less large offers. He's yet to prove he can come back and wont be able to prove it until next season. Could he sign a one year deal at a place he chooses? I guess so, but i'm guessing it'll be for a lot less money and more than likely the team that he signs with for a year won't coincidentally have big money to sign him to a huge contract the year after, so i'ts likely he'll have to move again to a new team anyway.

So the only pros of opting out are going to a team you prefer for one year, the cons are losing a lot of money and probably having to move again in a year. I dont think he's going to hate Toronto so much that he'll give up the money.

Is it likely he'll get traded? Not really, but is it as crazy for toronto as you think? I dont think so. Yao is more likely to not opt out this summer, they can still trade his expiring next year. If this trade deadline comes and they cant get a deal, yao would be appealing, if offered. Otherwise they'll lose bosh for nothing anyway.

This thread is just dumb and should be closed. Trading Yao is like trading Jordan from the Bulls. I would be shocked if Rockets trade Yao. Even if Yao is half-decent...they STILL would NOT trade him!! Yao is more important to not only this team...THIS ORGANIZATION PERIOD...in terms of money and revenue!!! His value is way to high and that's not even weight in on his talents.

Moderators should closed this thread because it's nonsense!

I mean, why bring it up if you're so tired of reading about it? If it's so ridiculous to you, just ignore it and move on.

    YOF's need to realize:

-toronto has a much larger chinese population than houston (ten times as large)
-no team would sign yao to anything more than a one year deal (at a huge pay cut) should he opt out after major surgery.
-If Bynum is seriously being offered there isn't anything the Rocket's can offer that compete with that (unless we take back bad contracts for T-mac)

Good post, i just don't think Toronto would want to the risk of Yao opting out, not to mention Yao's health problems and the better deals that they could get from Bosh.

This is a great idea, you trade Yao for Bosh, and you march on with a very healthy front court.

    Nice thread.

Haha true, my favourite one is the "Battier is a non-factor on offense and Scola is getting older, lets trade them for Bosh".
