Go BOKI! Damnit. He has put up some good numbers as of late. He obviously is feeling comfortable out on the court now. Time for him to prove the kind of player he really is....which he is doing right now. Good Luck BOki! Kick some a**!
I actually think people misunderstand our offense. Why do you think our offense is more "up-tempo" than it was December first? Please do not buy into cliches sport talking heads and bandwaggoners spew out there. We play a "controlled offense" that thrives on great (highly smart and pro-active) point guard play. The offense is up beat but more than that the team is evolving and the parts fit better. The plan to me in my view of things has been basically the same since mid-november. Sura, Barry, Wesley and to a small extent Juwan's play have meshed well together. Their ball sharing has been great and their defense has been adequate. Only people who do not watch enough of the Rox say those cliches things like up-tempo. Up-tempo is Phoenix - and they are the only "up-tempo" team I have seen this season (I have not seen Washington play yet). Seattle and a team like Dallas/Sac-Town are quasi up-tempo. Just my side note.
PS. Boki has been shooting well lately - but I still think his shooting form still suck. Lets see if he can shoot well the rest of the way because no matter which offense you find yourself, if you cannot shoot or play solid defense, no team will have much use for you.
It's not cliches. Do you have any ideas on up tempo offense? The fast breaks are part of up tempo game, and the Rockets seem to have done better at the fast breaks than it was december.
The fast break has always been part of this team's philosophy - the earlier problem was that the combination of Ward, Lue, Jackson and Motay just didn't run it well; they did not share the ball well. That said, I always believed it was way too early to make up ones mind about a team like ours that was almost totally rebuilt in the off season. Evolution demands time and patience for one to be able to make educated opinions. This current setup now is in line with what San Antonio is doing - bringing in and putting together complimentary parts that can make the whole cohesive and strong. Not many teams in the NBA actually play up-tempo (only Phoenix actually do so religiously) if you look closely. We needed great guard plays (PG) which was lacking earlier. Got to go now....I will be back later.
Anybody notice this in the Game Notes of the AP recap of the Hornets-Magic game. Kinda weird if you think about it...two former Rocket first round busts (well at least as of now) holding or nearly holding records for the Hornets. Game notes Hornets forward Lee Nailon missed his sixth straight game with a sore left groin. ... P.J. Brown sprained his left ankle late in the second quarter, and didn't play in the second half. ... Bostjan Nachbar had his streak of consecutive 3-pointers made end at eight, when he missed his first try. The team record is nine straight, set by Bryce Drew in 2001-02. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=250213019
We scored 2 fast break points in our 119 pt effort against Minnesota. There's no substitute for great execution.
True that. Our execuation has gotten a lot better than before. I was just making an observation and a guess on Nachbar's play. Not to mean anything much.
16 points in only 13 minutes? Impressive. It's clear he's playing with much more confidence than he has in the past. For the first time, he truly looks like he belongs in the NBA. It's amazing how a little confidence can jump start a players career.
15 pts on 6 of 9 shooting. He looks really comfortable out there right now. Rebounding, playing decent D, and taking it strong to the hole. Too early to declare victory, but I am feeling a lot better these days. DD
