Bill Worrell is awesome. I was vactioning in the Amazon with my family and this giant 33 foot Anaconda attacked me but Bill came out of nowhere and strangled the snake to death with his bare hands. Afterwards, he seduced and slept with my wife and taught my dog how to say "I love you" with barks. I wasn't mad, though. I was so thankful that I wasn't snakefood that I didn't even care that my wife said Bill was the best lover she'd ever had.

I meant the people at 610 don't like him.

As far as Rockets broadcasts go, Bill Worrell is nothing without Calvin Murphy. He's kind of corny actually. The radio crew is much better than the tv crew.

Hmmmm some how I dont buy into this...

He is a part of Houston. What does he want to do announce Bobcat games??

Heres a pic from his UH cheerleading days:

Bill and Calvin were the best duo in the business. I miss Calvin's ridiculous suits, and the banter between the two was hilarious.

Les Alexander - take your girly and high pitched laugh and use it to bring calvin back.

I miss Calvin too. I wish they would bring him back, Bill and Calvin had such great chemistry. Moments like last night when Bill was trying to explain how Gortat would have made a big difference on the Rockets and Clyde was just sounding like an idiot made me remember how great that duo truly was.

Mr. Worrell is the best announcer in sports as far as I am concerned. Way to go Sir and may you have many more years broadcasting for Houston.

Thank you very much, by the way, for making the Rockets' broadcasts very entertaining through the ups and downs of the team.

    This post made my night!

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to v3.0

I'm a huge fan of Bill Worrell. I couldn't care less if he's a homer, he's a Rockets fan and I appreciate that. I've grown up listening to Bill, like the way he calls a game, just wish he still had Calvin by his side.

He has been good but at times some of his recent comments make me think he is going senile.

This "similar threads" feature is just going to result in a bunch of people bumping up old threads.

Bill has really grown on me over the years. He used to not know a damn thing about basketball, and teaming with Calvin was the only thing that made him listenable for a while (imo). But I've come to respect his play by play abilities, he does a great job accentuating big moments without hogging the spotlight. He's obviously biased towards the Rockets but he's not near as bad as some of the other announcers I've heard. In fact, hearing the occasional call by other teams local announcers (Portland, Dallas, etc.) its becomes apparent to me that I need to be more thankful for having Bill, he's lightyears better then some of these godawful commentators.

Not sure why the OP considers Bull an odd personality, I think Bill and Bull make a great team, Bull is really good

Bill is awesome. Bill's play by play, Calvin's color commentary, and Hakeem dominating and winning championships were a part of my youth and the reason I became a die hard Rockets fan.

While the play itself was disgustingly frustrating, Bill's commentary was hilarious:
