They're NOT plastic. They're very symbolic of the Sikh religion, every man is supposed to have a knife of some sort. It's one of the 5 K's.
Trader Jorge you are truly a jerk. I never said anything bad to you, you just talk bad behind your computer screen about me for absolutely no reason.
ok, now i'm intrigued. why??? not trying to persecute..just trying to understand. p.s. probably not a good idea to make threats of physical violence against people here.
Ok, I edited my post, thanks. Anyway, here are the 5 k's. Every Sikh is supposed to have them. Kesh (uncut hair) Kara (a steel bracelet) Kanga (a wooden comb) Kaccha (cotton underwear) Kirpan (sword)
ok...didn't know that. what's the purpose of the knife though? i know very little about Sikhism. just enough to be dangerous!
Perhaps the democrats had a 2-1 favorite, but they didn't get off their ass to vote. Just adding another twist.
The actual purpose of is to "righteously defend the fine line of the Truth." The Sikhs are actually warriors, they had many battles with the Moguls.
but Sikh isn't a nationality, right? it's a religion...right?? belief in one God as I understand it...similar to Islam in the unity of God and in the person of who God is/characteristics/etc, if I remember right.
Yes it's a religion. You're right, Sikhs do believe in one God. It's a mixture of some concepts of the Hindu and Islamic religions. Also, the teachings of the Ten Gurus are part of the core belief, and they are in Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book. It departs from some of the social traditions and structure of Hinduism and Islam such as the caste system and purdah (requirement of women to cover their bodies). The Sikhs had many battles with the Moguls, and actually defeated them (a remarkable achievement at the time) in 1799 to form the Sikh Empire, which was lost to Britain in the Sikh Wars from 1845-1849. One of the Gurus actually sacrificed his life for the Hindus in 1675 while fighting the Moguls.
I have great respect for the Sikh religion, slick, as I do for all religions that don't preach violence against the innocent. I've got to say, however, that I'm a liberal agnostic rap-hating son of a *****!! Sorry, it's nothing personal. I just can't stand the stuff. Carry on. Keep D&D Civil!!
Ok, hope this helps: Similarities: 1. Belief in reincarnation 2. Belief in Karma 3. Celebration of Diwali (Hindu festival of lights) Differences 1. No belief in caste system (everyone is equal in the eyes of God) 2. Prohibited from worshipping idols, images, or icons. 3. Sikhs belief in 1 God, Hindus believe in many Gods which hold many different purposes Sikhism was basically the sword arm of Hinduism, they fought for the Hindus against the Mogul empire.
Bwahahahaha!! My light saber, with my android super-strength, will slice and dice you, young Padawan! Keep D&D Civil!!
I hope the information helped MadMax! That's cool that you're interested in learning about another faith, I try to visit all the different religious places: I've been to a gurdawaras (sikh temple), Hindu temples, Islamic Mosques, Catholic churches, a Baptist Church, Shinto Temples (in Japan) and Buddhist temples.
