Kareem was heavier than that and he was well-muscled. Still, he was much faster and agile than Yao. On 2 or 3 occasions, I remember Kareem bringing the ball up the court, doing a crossover and not look stiff doing it. I kid you not.

News flash for some you.....Kareem didn't participate in the break...the difference in speed has no relevance.

    What? No way?

You mean he simply was the outlet guy on the rebound, and occasionally became the trailer on a secondary break?

(Now where have I heard that before?)

    GET OUT OF HERE !!!

They may not be the answer, but we know that the current rotational players are not the answer either, why not everyone to find out?

Ummm when was the last time any of you saw a 5 on 5 fastbreak? You all make it sound like Yao has to be the one to finish on the break. You run and if its not there you slow it down and setup. Yao moves very well for his size.

No and maybe. Maybe that's Vspan and Snyder. But I am not even willing to go that far at this time.

It's more on Morey to add more talent to the team. We can't just throw Adelman in there and have him turn a JVG type slowdown team into an uptempo team with the roster we currently have.

It is a process. Adelman + a good summer of roster moves is needed.

if les truly wants to be "phoenix-like" it's gonna take more than a summer. back to the drawing board.

    Win what? A championship?

Because that is all that matters to me, becoming a championship team.

And, I have been saying all year (Ad nauseum) that the Rockets were not good enough to win, so please develop some players for the future.

win as much as possible. win each game on each given day. win against the jazz and see where that takes us next.

come on...we didn't get blown out by the jazz, da da. we lost game 7 on our homecourt. by a thin margin. i think playing the players he did gave him the best chance to win.

and alexander wasn't paying him to develop talent for later years...alexander had expectations for this season that carried career implications for JVG..that much is clear.

"phoenix-like" is more of a genrealization to say up tempo. They can be up tempo but play like the Spurs. That's really all that's needed.

Will it take more than a Summer? Maybe. But maybe they can get creative trading wise to make some tweaks.

One example is trading Battier+Sura+(maybe Head)+1st round pick to the Sonics for S&T Rashard Lewis. Then move Juwan for Mike James. Maybe use the MLE (or part of it) on a big like Joe Smith/PJ Brown/Marc Jackson to be that backup 4/5.

You add in a Mike James and Rashard Lewis to the Yao/Tmac core, that goes a long way to adding the offense to a stagnant team.

Basketball reference has him listed at 225, he was always fairly lean.

hey, if you can get the sonics to do that...great. i'm guessing the sonics probably believe they can do better than that with rashard.

i'd love to add in mike james. we'll see.

The biggest myth about Yao Ming is that he will overcome his stamina issues.

    It'll never happen.
