Statistically, I give Moreyball some credit.
But we've seen enough. Moreyball works and only works in a long season but not a possession by possession close games like in playoffs. 35% 3pts may outnumber 45% 2pts but minute by minute coaching, hussle and superstar's heart are the x factors during the playoffs.
    The Rox lacks them all.

The main problem with Rockets is the organization, they didn't make any vertical move to improve the team last two years. They needed RoCo without giving up Clint but for that or similar the owner needs to be willing to spend some money. I think the following team would be a championship contender:

Chris Paul, Harden, RoCo, Tucker, Capela with EG, DH, AR, JG etc coming from bench

Rocket's current team were never a contender to begin with and their regular season dismal record shows that.

You need a very good intelligent defensively minded PF and/or SF if you want small ball. Suns, GS, Lakers, they've got the tools that they need. Even Pistons with the Wallaces got it. Rockets simply don't. Rockets even got lots of non-shooters. That won't work.

The big men won cause our small men can’t shoot
3s consistently. To be the number 1 in attempts but number 23 in percentage made, doesn’t add up.

To be fair it’s never been big vs small “big men”

it’s been smaller skilled bigs vs unskilled bigger bigs.

I have always said it, big beats small in equally talented situations you should always go big.

So if they both have the same motion of the ocean, it's always better to have a bigger boat.

    Very insightful.

Hopefully Harden stays so we can see him in a real offense for a change and not that ridiculous step back 10 feet to make sure to shoot a 3 even though you're wide open atrocity we had to watch this past year.
