More passionate? The mandate to get the free seats is that you dress like an idiot and act like a fool. The Red Rowdies are comparable to circus monkeys.
Despite what you think, look at how many teams have started a similar program to what the Rowdies have started. There are at least 10 teams that either have programs like the Rowdies and or are starting one up next season. Does that make the other teams fans CIRCUS MONKEYS too who want to be passioniate and cheer for their team like the Rowdies do?
Do I have to paint my face like a clown, beat on a set of drums, or hold up some lame azz sign to make me a true fan?... You can beat on deez you clown.
Ummm I can argue that. I have been to about 100 games in 5 years and have never left a game early. Even when we were blown out I painfully watch till the end. I spend whatever money I have and consider myself a die-hard fan. I like the Red Rowdies but they hardly add to the game. And if the Rockets make to the second round I'll get the Classic Rockets logo tatted on my chest. I already did that when they beat Portland and have the current logo incorporated in my right arm piece. Even have Toyota Center in it.
I think that's where your wrong. It can most definitely be argued that if you want to be a passionate supporter and a fan of the Houston Rockets, you dont have to be a red rowdie to do so. In or outside of Toyota Center. The notion that you believe that the rowdies are gods gift to the rockets and their fanbase is ridiculous. Yes, you and the rowdies scream and yell throughout the game. But thats what you signed up for. When i attend the games on my season tickets, i do the same. Would I join the Red Rowdies and get season tickets for free? No. Am i or anyone else on this board as passionate about the rockets as you? Yes.
But the passion isn't is genuine, and that's the problem. I've never been a Rowdy, but do you lose your tickets if you show less enthusiam, leave the game early or don't show up at all? To me, being a Rowdy is not a sacrifce...it's a priveledge.
RED ROWDIES= ENERGY. Bottom line, is all I am asking is for people in unison to MAKE NOISE when they attend games, not sit there like a bump on a log. If you guys can scream for a football team like the Texans and blow your lungs out for 60 minutes for a team that hasn't made the playoffs and is just sucking up the average fans dollar, then where is the same passion and noise for the Rockets? To clear things up, I DO NOT HATE ROCKETS FANS and I DO NOT THINK THE ROWDIES ARE BETTER BASKETBALL FANS THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON WHO BUYS TICKETS, all I want and ask Rockets fans to do is to come to a game and get excited. Bring the passion for the Rockets from Clutchfans with you to a game and I can guarantee that Toyota Center will be a DREADFUL PLACE TO PLAY an NBA GAME.
The answer as we both know is no. Houston fans are terrible and do not cheer unless we winning. I'm usually the one screaming in my section and the only thing I don't do is stand, cause I don't want to make the people behind mad. I wish Houston was a basketball town but it won't happen. That being said I do agree with most things you've said about fans that are capable of going yet are silent when we start losing. F*** those fans.
If Yao plays another game this season I will streak but naked across the Toyota Center during the game.
You completely missed my point, but ok, we get what you're trying to say, but simply stating it's true because you're a RR is lame. Even other RRs know some of them have gone out there just for the fun of it and the title, rather than for the basketball.
I have no problem with the Rowdies, and I like that they are there to help motivate the crowd. But I think that the way the tickets are distributed is dumb. Rather than holding auditions, what the Rockets should do is have people volunteer their time, every weekend for a month prior to ticket distribution, to one of the Rockets' charities. So in addition to doing something for a good cause, you are also displaying your drive and passion as a Rockets fan by giving something back. The reward....season tickets for the year.
