That should go in a thread on the top backcourt that you want then. This is a thread for best scoring backcourt, which is always different than best passing backcourt.
I'll take Chris Paul and Marcus Thornton. Thornton is a pure scorer that's averaging more points per 48 min than either Brooks or Martin. He scored 23 points in one quarter versus the Cavs. We all know who Chris Paul is, but he has been hurt the majority of this season (obviously).
Marcus Thornton plays 23 minutes per game. And actually, he is scoring at a lower per 36 minute rate than Kevin Martin, and just barely more than Brooks. He's also much less efficient than either of them. Chris Paul is a great PG, maybe the best overall, but he also scores at a lower rate than either Martin or Brooks (albeit a little more efficiently than Brooks, which I think will change as Brooks gains more experience).
I would trade both martin and brooks for CP3. He pretty much carried his team to the playoffs all those years.
I would trade one of them, but not both of them. But that discussion doesn't have anything to do with this thread regardless. CP3 is a better passer/playmaker than both of them combined, and a better defender/rebounder than either of them, but this thread is not about any of those things. It's about scoring.
Yes I am aware that melo is a SF, my post was aimed towards the Westbrook-durant comment. I'd take Nelson-Carter combo too.
The Crawford-Johnson combo in ATL (When Jamal subs in at PG) is hell for opposing teams to deal with. I'd still take ours though just on effeciency of KM getting to the line and AB shooting 44% FG and 40% 3pt (pretty damn good for a pg of his size)
Durant is 6'10". I don't see how he could be considered a shooting guard, although I guess he technically is with the other players he starts with. I guess it just depends on what you consider "backcourt". Lebron is clearly a small forward (actually he has made up a new position, the power point shooting guard), but he handles the ball more than any other Cavalier. So I think he should be considered a backcourt player making Mo/Lebron the answer to the question. The Rockets have played the entire season without a center, unless you consider Andersen. Aaron Brooks is the "point guard" although he plays much more like a shooting guard. Some people still call the small forward a shooting forward, which makes some sense. Screw the idea of positions, just play the damn game. It makes zero difference.
like the thread title says in caps, its only about scoring, not about overall talent. so kobe + scrub doesnt score more than brooks + martin.
i like the combo of AB and K-Martin (Kevin) but once Kobe is on fire he will be like when he scored 81pts with Derek Fisher shooting 3s all day
Disagree. Curry can score but he also contributes in every other aspect of the game. I think that by his 3rd year we'll be talking about Stephen Curry the all-star.
First: I was talking about as a scorer, since that's what this thread is about. Sorry, but Curry's 16.4ppg on 13.5 FGA is not better scoring than Kevin Martin's 21ppg on 15.7 FGA. Second, I did say "he is still young so we'll have to wait and see how he develops," which addresses the second part of your post. Third, 5.5 assists/3.0 turnovers and 4.2 rebounds is nothing special. His overall stats are really pretty similar to AB's, except much worse in scoring, and a little better in rebounding.
