I know Jammer was one of the more overrated players in college football... I said that last year as well. He was good, but not the team MVP that many claimed. I saw him beaten on quite a few routes, and I'm fully confident that Vasher can be as good of a corner. Quentin Jammer is not worth as much as Roy Williams.

Sorry, but these teams are totally different. OU went from having a capable quarterback last year, to one who is one of the worst in the country. (don't care about stats against UTEP) Chris Simms looks better than he ever has. Cedric Benson will actually play. OU lost the best player in college football. Roy Williams, for the first time in his college career, is fully healthy. Forgive me for being optimistic.

Also, since when does every single year equate to two years? He looks great so far this year... oddsmakers have him as the second choice, behind Dorsey. I guess they all have the UT bias too though. Man, what a homer I am... I missed the Heisman trophy winner one ****ing year. Also, I can say I've never met one Sooner fan that isn't a complete moron and homer when it comes to Texas football. Without saying whether or not I think that, the statement would have just as much credibility as your bull**** about Texas fans. I guess all I'd have to do is pull up a few quotes off of Soonerfans.com and my point is made.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, the reason Texas fans are so harsh towards OU are the things said from Oklahoma fans? Maybe it's stuff like Nate Hybl's numbers against UTEP make him as good as Chris Simms? Maybe it's stuff like "OU will win because they won last year". Maybe it's calling Chris "Chrissy". Maybe it's predicting losses in games against UNC. Maybe it's the overall pure hatred Oklahoma fans have for anything related to Texas... yeah, maybe that's why UT fans are a little touchy when it comes to the Sooners.

Also, congrats to your new graduating rates... 5.3 percent for football, 0.0 percent for basketball.

WHAT??? Jammer wasn't a top 10 NFL pick for nothing!! He was a tremendous cover corner...you saw him get beat on some routes...guess what...even the best get beat sometimes!! Cris Dishman was maybe the best COVER corner I have ever seen play (particularly during any one given season)...but no one is 100% on 100% of the time...even he got beat..even Deon Sanders got beat...everyone gets beat. but the very fact that they threw the ball away from him more times than not tells you he's doing his job...

the jammer/williams comment...do you meant that in their college careers or over their pro careers?? or both???

I agree with you BK. You don't have to be sarcastic. I never said this was a situation exclusive to Texas. I'm just commenting on the environment that I am a part of. I know that this happens everywhere...and I still think it is a little too much in terms of the emotion people invest. Which is kinda illogical/weird, because I get pissed off when I see other people getting pissed off at things that I don't believe should be that important. I'm not saying that people can't act that way; these are just my opinions and feelings on the subject.

I'm not trying to find universal truth. I'm just giving observations based on my experiences with Aggie and Longhorn players, students, and fans. It's okay whether or not you feel that it is an idiotic opinion. But I'm still gonna keep giving my observations and opinions. I'm not saying people can't act the way they do; it's a free country.

You can still have the fun and excitement of football and leave the unnecessary mean spiritedness behind. I don't like it when UT students don't get treated well in College Station and vice versa. I don't like it when I hear people unleash a barrage of harsh insults and language at other teams and even at their own. Sports opponents aren't enemies at war.

And lastly, Kagy, it wouldn't hurt too much to lighten up a bit, would it? Or is the idiocy meter reading too high in this thread that you can't fight the urge to be an ass? I could just be interpreting incorectly, in which case, I apologize for calling you an ass.

Well, I mean beat more in comparison to other "lockdown" corners, such as Charles Woodson when he was at Michigan. I still have tapes of some of his games. Jammer's very good, but I don't think he's great. I certainly don't think he was the MVP of the team last year.

On Jammer and Williams-- I mostly meant that in regards to their college careers. The role of the safety in college ball gave Williams a better chance to shine. It's not that I don't think he will be valuable in the pros, but with NFL receivers, he will have to stay back in coverage more. At OU, his freedom to blitz and use his instincts around the line if scrimmage was a huge part of how special he was. In addition to his talent, Roy's a remarkably smart football player... it's just a little easier for him to use that in college where he had more freedom to be near the line.

Then you're contradicting yourself, as Hybl has better stats in less minutes this year. Yeah, go ahead, bring up UTEP sucks, I know you will. And also bring up how great UNT and UNC are:rolleyes:
So you're blaming OU fans for the "We're Texas, so we must be better" attitude?
Why thank you. And have you happened to look up the rules on that? That reflects back to Schnellenberger and Blake's days, not now.

Who's the one contradicting himself now? I thought that previous years meant everything... but now it's all about now?

Also, I've only mentioned this about a thousand times, but UNT and UNC are nowhere in the neighborhood of UTEP. No one has produced a shred of evidence to suggest otherwise.

The "we're Texas" quote isn't even worthy of a response... I haven't seen many Texas fans with that attitude, and you haven't produced much evidence to show that it's the majority.

Why yes it does. Best public school in the southwest. BTW, do you have McGruder's #? I need to score some "stuff" from him tonight.

huh? where did I contradict myself....Of course it's not all about the past, but it DOES have some merit, as OU has many of the same starters from the past 2 years, and I think UT does, not sure the # though...
So losing to a team of UTEP's caliber(Miami, OH) is not enough evidence?
The majority of Texas fans here have that attitude, just read these posts.....
No, but I bet you can get it from your savior Cedric Benson.

I already dispelled that rumor... try again. Miami of Ohio is not in UTEP's class. They beat UNC on the road. They only allowed 33 points to an LSU team at Tiger Stadium. Last year, they took Marshall down to the wire before losing 27-21, and lost to Michigan in Ann Arbor by a score of 31-13. That is nothing compared to giving up 77 points to Kentucky... that's nowhere even close.

I have read these posts, I see objective, logical analysis that only OU homers would disagree with...

Actually, Benson was proven innocent. Overzealous cops. The cops found scales and glad bags in Lynn's room. The guy got kicked out of Tennessee for God's sake. You've gotta be somethign else if Fulmer kicks you out of his program. The SEC for pete's sake. LOL.
