they get rudy and make this evans' team more room for evans to grow since they think hes the next wade if martin is doin all the scorin he cant grow
i think wafer outplayed rudy in the portland series, but if we realy don't plan on resigning him, i think rudy and outlaw for shane and filler is a good deal. ariza + athleticism = shane + bball i.q. its a wash, i dont see both players starting seeing as they are some much alike so since ariza is younger move shane for a young scorer plus a big to a contender. portland works for both sides.
This deal is terrible. The rockets are giving up the two(or three) best players in the deal and get weaker inside(scola > mcgee), weaker at pg(lowry> crittenton) and weaker in perimeter defense.
Battier for Fernandez would be a great straight up deal Morey should consider. After all what does a non contending team need with Battier this year and he will be older next year. It makes no sense to drive his value into the ground if we could get Fernandez and start him immediately as a offensive weapon which we lack this season and he is a natural guard which Shane is not. We could start ARiza and Fernandez and have one of the best fast breaking teams in the league. Aaron Brooks and them two just makes sense. Not to mention the gae to sustain for next year when we get Yao back and have more depth which by then Shane should be getting too old to be valueable and may only have one more run in him anyways. Fernandez for Shane makes perfect sense. Too bad Morey isnt probably looking into this. it would make him look like a genius to have a Fernandez and Ariza backcourt bustout and get younger all at once. Battier is simply a liability this year on offense and we cant afford his lack of offensive talent and he is getting old Morey. This is another chance to make a move before the value of some guys is totally gone again like Tmac and Yao's was wasted.
1. Shane Battier for Nenad Kristic and Kyle Weaver 2. Shane Battier for JR Smith 3. Shane Battier for Delonte West 4. Shane Battier for Rudy Fernandez and Travis Outlaw/Jerryd Bayless
Kevin Martin will be our good start. He will be our go to guy and he can flat out score. It would sucks to lose battier but you have to give up one to get one. Kevin Martin would be the guy we can slowly build around and if somehow we get him, and hopefully we can add another star like bosh...man that combo would almost be as good as Yao and Mcgrady but I will give it a plus since those guys can actually play a whole season if Martin stays healthy. I'm sure he will since he really don't have any serious injuries like Mcgrady or Yao. Plus we have the right role players to surround them so we would automatically be contenders if everything work out correctly.
Scola is 29, an unrestricted free agent after this season, and he'll be expecting a substantial raise after being underpaid for his value the last couple years. Battier is 30, and will make about 7 million each of the next two seasons. Lowry is a restricted free agent after this year. McGee, Young, and Crittenton are all 21-22, will cost a combined 4.5 million this year, and all three have team options for 2010/2011 for a combined 6.5 (less than Battier's salary alone). McGee, the best player/prospect we'd be getting in the trade, has another team option the year after that for 2.5 million. And Mike James is expiring. Right now we have 6 rotation quality guys at three positions (PG, SF, PF) and basically nothing at the other two positions (SG, C). This trade would give us 1 real good young player at each of the 5 positions, with all of them locked up at least 2 years for cheap (well not Ariza). We'd go from this: Hayes/Andersen/(Yao) Scola/Landry/Dorsey Ariza/Budinger/Cook Battier/Taylor/(Tmac) Brooks/Lowry/Barry to this (we'd have to like release Barry/Cook or something): McGee/Andersen/Yao Landry/Hayes/Dorsey Ariza/Budinger/Cook Young/Taylor/Barry/(Tmac) Brooks/Lowry/Crittenton/James And we wouldn't have to worry about filling nearly as many holes in free agency next summer.
First of all, even young teams need veterans like Battier/Scola for leadership as they mature into good teams. Plus, the economy is in shambles, so I don't think Scola will be overpriced in the market next offseason. Also, just because your roster has holes(SG/C) doesn't mean you get taken to the cleaners value wise. It's possible that Taylor or Budinger(or Wafer if he returns) can be every bit as good as Young, and not cost you valuable assets. Or that the 2010 FA class can produce the SG/C help I need. Plus, I could always draft a young center in next year's draft class. It's not like McGee is that much better than centers that will be available in future drafts.
Shane Battier to Golden State for Kelenna Azubuike and Brandan Wright... Brooks/Lowry Azubukie/White/Taylor Ariza/Wright/Budinger Scola/Landry/Hayes Andersen/Dorsey trade Cook and buyout Barry.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Azubukie has great size at 6-5 220...athletic and can shoot the 3 ball... Wright is more of a finesse PF.....similar to Chris Bosh body type.. but played SF for Golden State, he adds size, he's 6-10.. high potential.. Golden State does the trade because they need more defensive minded players... they have too many PGs and SGs... so they could let go of Azubukie... they also have Anthony Randolph who plays the some position as Wright and he's better than Wright.. Both are expiring contracts and if they don't preform well it gives the Rockets more flexibility in 2010
