Well, the bandwagoners make the arena louder and have a good time...TC was dead silent earlier on in the season.

can't understand why more fans, even of the temporary 'good times' variety, is a bad thing. if they come to the games and make noise be patient with their pedigree. dunno what the post season will bring but something special is happening NOW. TC becoming more inhospitable to our opponents is a good thing ... there's most definitely room on the wagon, get on board.
whining about bandwagon fans is about as stupid as this post. my dad doesnt watch the regular season games at all but when it came to playoff time he enjoyed every minute of it - (he only knew 2 names, olajuwon and jordan) the more the merrier imo and if it really bugs u move to boston, i hear all those fans who goto the games now this year surely SURELY spent as much time watching them lose 80% of their games for what 10years
I considered myself a bandwagon Rockets fan in '05 after the first two games in the Dallas series. I use to watch in the Franchise days, but not even close to now (I was in 4th grade back then, but now in 11th). Sometimes, bandwagon fans become hooked, and you have another hardcore base...
Hopefully lots of those bandwagon fans are rich, so maybe they'll actually populate the lower box now. And on the subject of Astros bandwagon fans, I've been a HUGE Astro fan since '98, but after 2006 hung my hat up out of pure frustration with the ownership and management. I don't consider myself a bandwagon fan because I now know 10x more about baseball history than I would even care to know in any other sport as a result of my fandom, but I think, for people who are like me and just want to stop following the Astros until the GM is finally a young progressive guy with good ideas (which won't happen under McLane, Wade might get fired this year or next but he won't be replaced by anyone good I'm quite confident), there should be some sort of exit clause where you get to avoid the label of "bandwagon fan" even though you're ditching the team during a long period of suckitude, just because you could see it coming from miles away. And mark my words we will suck for a good four years minimum, that's how long it takes to rebuild a farm system which is now non-existent. And who knows if that rebuilding has even started yet, Wade might be better than Purpura in that he will actually have picks in rounds 1 and 2 and will be able to sign his 3rd 4th and 5th picks (my God), but only time will tell if he's actually making use of them.

I was upset about it at first, but it is nice to actually have fans in Houston (besides you wonderful human beings on this board) to talk to about our Rockets for a change. I mean, when is the last time Astros baseball hasnt dominated the sports talk radio here? Houston is one of the more fairweather sports cities around. Ive gotten used to it. The only ones I cant stand are the ones who act like theyve been there since day one...
Yeah, it's weird going around the city and hearing EVERYONE talking about the Rockets. It takes everything in me not to jump into a conversation when people are mistaken about things...which seems to happen a lot. I've heard Scola referred to as "the European guy" more often than I would like, lol. Maybe it's just jealousy on my part - I always live or die with the Rockets, all these bandwagon people lately have only lived with them, and lived well, and not LOST...maybe it's my own fault for hanging all my hopes on them. But then again, that's what this forum is for. When we lose again or have a bad stretch, those fans' interest will fade, but we'll all have each other. Geez, it feels like one big family. ;p
First we complain about no one (besides us) caring about the Rockets, now we complain about everyone caring about the Rockets? This is a good thing, not a bad thing IMO. I don't think you should have to pass a test to be allowed as a Rocket fan. I must admit though, this phenomenon really bothered me when we won our Championships. People who never watched a game until the Finals were lining up getting all the championship t-shirts and hats before people like me - who had been watching them religiously since Rudy's playing days. And don't get me started about the parade...
The Rockets need fans, but the fans don't need Rockets. There are more to life than Rockets. You don't have to devote all your free time to this game, worry about their roster, etc. to be a fan. I wouldn't say bandwagon fans, but featherweight fans. Still Rockets fans, just that Rockets is not their priority.
it's the way every city is. the rockets compete for entertainment dollars....right now they're very entertaining.
I've been wearing Rockets gear to school everyday. Either a shirt or jersey but a hat everyday. All year I got no comments. In the last 2 days (thurs-fri) I got 2 comments. I like it. I don't mind if they didn't care at 15-17
I have yet to meet the current bandwagoner who thinks we have a decent shot at running the table. Come to think of it, aren't thinking and bandwagon antithetical? They cheer bc it feels good. That's all.
The more the merrier. You got to start somewhere. Sometimes bandwagon fans become real fans. Plus everyone likes to be a part of a winner. Only a few of us knuckleheads stick with a loser because we love the team. That's almost sadistic.
lol...i had an extra World Series ticket in 2005. my g/f wanted to go bad. i told her, "you don't even like baseball and i'm not going to waste this ticket on you." i took one of my best friends with me.
I jumped on the bandwagon in 1993 when I started paying attention to NBA games at the age of 9. I saw Hakeem hitting shots with ease and I haven't even thought of jumping off once. And this was in the height of Jordan-mania. People always ask me "How come you're from California but you like the Rockets"
