That's why I didn't post these...it would kill the tourism industry! And again from up north... AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!
An Ice cold dagger 3 point shot on the buzzer, and Australia beat Russia! (you can see Brad Newly and David Anderson)
Australia is a miracle of a country. It is one of my two or three favorite places on earth and I can't think of any country that overall would be as enjoyable a place to live. I was walking down the street in Melbourne one day (my favorite city among stiff competition) and saw a smoking hot woman. This is of course not unusual, far from it. Many other posters have mentioned the quality of the women in Australia and they are quite correct. But in this case she was a public works employee digging a hole in the road or filling it in or whatever she was doing, reflective vest, hardhat, steel toed boots and all. I don't know about where you live but where I live smoking hot public works employees are not terribly common. Maybe that will give those of you who have not had a chance to visit an idea of what we're working with. The Tasmanian beer Cascade is my favorite, by the way, but I am nowhere near too proud to shun a schooner of Vitamin B. I have spent an unusual amount of time in Adelaide so of course I love Coopers beers as well.
Mrs hates these but I love having them, as mentioned they're harmless to us but they keep the bad ****ers like white tails away so i'm more than happy to have one sitting in the corner of the bedroom but nooooooooo I have to kill them or take them outside once they're spotted. Actually built a little hideout for one once in our last house because we backed onto a reserve and had heaps of spiders, scorpions etc. getting in so I decided he was to be our protector of the realm. I'm from Tasmania so the b*stard that worries me the most is the Tiger Snake. I stepped on one of these walking down to the beach when I was younger and was incredibly lucky I had a beach chair in my hand because it was the only thing that saved my leg from its fangs. I really really hate snakes.
I've seen that picture before somewhere I think. Just wrong though. When I was just a little grasshopper we lived on Flinders Island(one of the islands above Tassie) for a few years and there were heaps of snakes, would often come into our yard and Dad would find them in the veggie garden or under the steps. Also went to Chappell Island a couple of times, not fun when you hate snakes as they have the biggest Tigers and a ****load of them.
Nope. the only footy that really counts in Australia is AFL - the genuine Australian game Grand Final on Saturday.... Carn the Hawks!!
My new roommate was a rando and it all actually turned out awesome! He's just weeks fresh from flying from Melbourne! It's been a great experience thus far for sure! I've always wanted to visit there myself.
Here's hoping we see a lot of this on saturday It's gonna be a barnburner, tough to separate two very good football teams. May the best side win! Go Hawks!
I just want to go there and say "Be right back... I have to see a man about a wallaby" and "bless" a toilet flushing the other way. I have NEVER been to the Southern Hemisphere.
Holla at yo Boy when you get here and I'll take you to feed some kangaroos, emus and other assorted wildlife.
Lulz I was going thru 5 pages looking for this answer. I was really surprised you hadn't had a response to the standard Fosters/Outback responses.
I have fond memories of my trip to Australia. I have family that lives in Melbourne, and friend that lives in Sydney. One thing I didn't know before I went there was that the Outback is not only the dessert area around Ayers rock, but includes tropical jungle area in the North as well. It shows how ignorant I was because before I visited, I had no clue at all about that. I often think about the way Aussies pronounce Adidas compared with the US pronunciation. I also remember the novelty of beers from vending machines. As far as the racism goes, there is definitely some there especially against Asians, but it isn't like all Aussies are racism. There are problems with racism in the U.S. and even on this bbs, but I don't think of all Americans as racists.
