(The Athletic) Detroit might pass on Cade and take Jalen Green #1?

If Pistons really want Green over Cade, their is no reason to broadcast it. Would be smarter to to keep it close to the vest and extract as much as possible from the Rockets.

Well, you've got me there. But at least James Harden had been to the playoffs!

I’d take Mobley over Cade and Green over Mobley so for me:

    1. Green
    2. Mobley
    3. Cade

Jalen Green makes so many unique shots too. Mid-range fades, floaters, pull-ups, double crossovers, etc. His bag is sooo deep. Hints of Allen Iverson.

While guard heavy league, also means the guards chosen have to really improve to stand out among the crowd.

Detroit GM Troy Weaver joined pistons in June 2020:

Not diving into his OKC days, tough to know which is Presti and which is him. His 'hits' so far has been Bey and Stewart, A wing and a center. Hayes underperformed, Saben Lee is a late rounder.

    Pistons Rookies
#7 Killian Hayes (6'5") - hip injury, played poorly -1.9
    #16 Isiah Stewart (6'9") - defense - 3.1 WAR rating
    #19 Sadddiq Bey (6'7") - 3&D? -0.5 rating,
    #38 Saben Lee (6' 2") - better than advertised. -0.5 under 1000 min played.

He seems to value athleticism a lot; a high ceiling pick could be a 'westbrook' super athletic and overlook stuff like shooting. Since he likes athleticism and his 6'5" guy from last year didn't exactly pan out, that could be why he's high on J. Green.

    * Bey did make the all rookie first team with Tate.

    * Not sure if it's his regime, they did part ways with Blake and Wood. Blake all of sudden remember how to dunk. We know about Wood.

I like these picks, tbh. Really swinging for the fences.

Extremely happy that we have something of value that they covet. (Control of their own draft picks)

I see a deal in our future.

He still young sure but his showing so far aint great 6.8 pts per game, 28% 3p%, 40% efg for a PG. Need 2-4 yrs to judge, but not off to a great start.

If Detroit tries to trade down with Houston, then you know they want Green. If Houston also prefers Green, then the smart play for them would be to trade up and then shock everyone by taking Green #1 overall.

These is zero reason for the Rockets to trade assets to draft a prospect. the number 2 pick is good enough to pick from.

Detroit already has a couple of forwards they like too with Saddiq and Jerami. Jalen Green fits that roster like a glove.

I can think of a reason.

We think Cade is a superstar, and has a better future than Green/Mobley. Thus, we are willing to move off of our Detroit position to guarantee Cade is a Rocket.

Still not buying it. And not sure I’d trade up anyways. You (Detroit) want Jalen Green (or Evan Mobley), put your money where your mouth is, draft him number one. And if they do take Cade, great, Rockets choose from Mobley, Green or Suggs.

Good luck with that since the Rockets can't even get Cade in for a workout.
