Heres the problem and it hasnt been addressed at all in this lengthy thread. There are zones now. Its not like man to man back in hakeems day. What that means is this > You have to have 5 FIVE shooters on the court other wise the other team will play zone and double HARD. They DONT GUARD CATO because he cant shoot. So what happens? Catos man zones and doubles ming making it NEAR impossible to pass to him . Giving Francis only 1 second to pass it in is stupid. Even Kidd would have trouble on this team. The solution is simple. Start Eddie Griffin at pf when he gets back and have him play the HOrry role in magic finals of 1995,and have Griffin(horry) stand on three point line a) to make the entry pass to Ming b) so that teams respect and guard Griffin on three, thus eliminating any potential double on ming c) makes ming life easier Also, you can have Mo taylor play this spot since he can hit the 15 footer ,but Griffin would be best.(the three point line is more spacing) Its sad that I think the rocks might cut grif. His shotblocking, and D on Dirk would probably be better than Catos and he can make our offense alot more effecient. Thats why the offense right now seems "slow" cluttered, and when Steve and Ming still have alot of points it seems "hard" though because the rockets are basically playing 4 on 5 EVERY time down on offense since nobody guards Cato. Im really upset that JVG loves cato so much. Im worried that cato might not ever be the backup again, and thus we will continue to have trouble scoring 100.
Sweetie...( I feel I can call you Sweetie, as we've known each other for so long...) This thread specifically addresses entries against at home defenses...I said that there are times when zone and spacing create other problems for entry passes...The point of this thread was to address the entry in and of itself insofar as it is done when the other factors are not applicable.
Ok, time to get this thread back on top again. One BIG observation, lob pass is NOT hard. Another big observation, once it is thrown, Yao will get it. There are a total of three lob passes. Two by Bragg, one results in a slam dunk and another results in a foul by Toronto. The last lob pass result in a turnover since the passer jumped in the air and pretended to shoot. It faked his own teammate out. But from the trajectory of the pass, it will be a sure slam dunk if Yao knew the pass is coming. If the lob pass is consistently used thoughout the game, Yao will always keep an eye out for it. I had never found lob pass difficult in my own personal playing experience. Watching Rockets having so much difficulty in executing lob passes had started to let me doubting my own personal experience. It is just so frustrating for me to see the apparent difficulty for the rocket in executing lob passes.
Macbeth, what a great post. This thread should be made 'sticky' to educate most of posters in this forum.
While I don't really hear that much in the real world, you may well be correct. I suppose it's even possible that we might reveal facets of our personalities in this format that aren't apparent to people who know us in person, sort of like a different lense on our charecteristics. For example, it could well be a complete secret to those who know you what a classless twit you are capable of being in other circumstances.
