At least your honed up to it. Respect for that. I don't think you could ask for a better situation than Martin, Armstrong, and a couple of Knicks picks(on the hope that this crazy Lebron/Wade/Bosh thing backfires for NY) for Landry/Tmac.
considering your entire rants on the posts before in this thread this is a pretty weak apology but whatever i am glad that Morey showed us all the true "art of making a deal"
Fair deal or not, we got a lot more than we would have if we had traded T-mac back in the summer of 09 like you said we should. I told you his value would only go up with the trade deadline approaching. Fair deal? We get K-mart, a big man with potential in Jordan Hill, and two draft picks from a perennial loser team. Plus the deadweight will expire just in time to let us play in the free agent market of 2012. It was an awesome deal.
Good enough, DD. Now relax and enjoy our victory! Can you believe this deal? Sure, we take a chance with Martin's health, but he doesn't have the congenital issues T-Mac had (not talking about the ones upstairs), being the victim of some freakish injuries that shouldn't linger. The guy stays healthy and we have one of the best scoring 2's in the league, just turned 27 and he's entering his prime. Morey managed to get Hill to develop, a 4 with the prototypical body made for the position, a rookie picked in the last draft at #8, and he got the draft picks/swap. Simply amazing, and that doesn't include Jeffries, who's decent, and Hilton Armstrong, who can be valuable off the bench. We just plugged a lot of our holes, added depth, added picks, broke McGrady's contract into smaller pieces easier to trade. It's enough to boggle the mind. Landry was a steep price, which ClutchFans know better than anyone, but one has to think it was a price well worth paying. So enjoy the fun, DD. Now we have a host of new topics to discuss in the GARM. It'll be fun for all of us, regardless of how we feel about the deal. Me? I feel great! Good times, Leeb, good times! Now we can watch this play out, see how everyone fits, hopefully get these guys bonded by a playoff run, regardless of outcome, and then aim next year for a title with the Big Fella. What a great time to be a fan of the Rockets!
To follow up to Deckard's post above, I would like to suggest that a one week auto ban be created for any member of this forum who has the cheek to question, criticize or doubt any of General Manager Daryl Morey's moves in the future. P.S. Tongue in cheek guys, tongue in cheek
Well someone's premonition was correct in this thread This was an alright thread, good perspective. It could very well be Morey was going for the max-extraction screw job, and just happened to work out just because.
Morey extracted every bit of leverage he had and then some. We could've settled for the NY deal, but after dumping in Landry, somehow we got Kevin Martin back. We heard of rumors getting Tyrus Thomas, official announcements of an untradeable Kevin Martin, and now even a push for Amare. Whether you like the deal or not, what we have heard transpired is a pretty good lesson how how things change by the minute around the trade deadline. We might have had to deal with a useless TMac, but somehow Morey pulled off a big trade with his persistence. Pretty cool.
Cry me a god damn river DD. It was you that said, "oh, just let everybody be who they are" in relation to replys. (I'm paraphrasing for sure). Hey I thought people were rude to you too. There are a LOT of rude people around here and neither you nor I will ever change that. So man the fk-up. You taught me that lesson, now you do the same.
DD has said multiple times that he likes the trade. So an "I was wrong" admission seems pretty superfluous. I don't know why people get hung up on stuff like that.
