Don't you think Morey might have been afraid of the big contract Landry might have been offered by other teams next year? And might not have wanted to match it?

I was upset at losing landry too, but after thinking about it, we probably weren't going to keep him after this season. Someone was bound to offer him something we couldn't match. Essentially we'd have a choice between landry or scola, and i go with scola.

If netting kevin martin took t-mac's expiring and landry, then so be it. I'd rather do that than let t-mac expire, have only 7mil to spend on FA signing and then probably lose landry anyway.

So the question is was there any other player than could play the 2 better than K-mart? No. Good move.

What happened to making a fair deal? You don't want to give SacTown any assets in return for Martin? Sounds like you're arguing from the "Screw Job" point of view all of a sudden.

Again I'll ask: "What do think would have been a fair deal"?

if i've learned anything from this board, it's that people will always complain about something we do. we could have gotten Kevin Durant, but if it cost us David Andersen and a draft pick, we'd be whining about not having a back up center and a chance at john wall.

I guess it depends upon what you think a fair deal is.....I concede the point that getting a 20ppg scorer for Landry does seem fair.

I am nuetral on this deal overall, don't hate it, don't love it, I do LOVE that Kmart will replace one of the Battriza boys and think it makes us better in the starting and finishing lineups.

And, I also like Hilton Armstrong as a shot blocking big.....I just hope we can spin some more assets out of the deal by getting NY involved.

Anyway, I guess I am leaning towards liking this deal now that I have written this....so, yes....fair deal.

I'm always here. I like the Master P reference also  Its always about show and prove with me. You can always talk and some guys do, but show me. He closed a multiplayer, multi team deal and thats great. As a rocket fan since 77-78, u act like i'm mad or sad. I think the rockets did well especially getting the picks. I like martin, just dont like his medical, but this really helps the rockets close the gap if they can stay healthy. Martin and yao missess chunks of games. Dallas and the rockets are on par now with sa a little behind, but as always, dirk suits up every game. I like hill alot also, but landry had to go because the kings didnt want scola or shane. Shane has 0 value right now. I like the deal and as i said in another thread, if the nets strike out in free agency, i wonder if we could get lopez for him yao?

So i guess it is best to wait until the end.

You want the best deal. Not the first fair one you receive.

Time to eat your words DD.

Does anyone else find it ironic that we are all excited to get a guy who is a scorer that happens to be injury prone, happens to play poor defense, and happens to have trouble accepting new roles to replace the guy who was injury prone, played poor defense, and had trouble adjusting to a new role?

    LOL, enjoy.

Your op was a great read...in a different atmosphere, but on the eve of the last trade day, it was like you were offering bad juju.

    Timing, DD, timing.

This isn't a suck up post, but the reason i have respect and love for DD because he's a man. Now, we dont agree on everything, but he's not scared to voice his opinion and stand by them. He's his own man and independent thinker. Some posters just ride the wave like clones and never take a stand. If he's wrong, he will take it. There are alot guys i respect alot even if don't agree, but thats what makes this board special. Thats what keep old ass dudes like Deckard,Dd,and myself posting.
