I edited some of that out, but for the most part, I agree with what you're saying. (Disclaimer, I'm in sales) Lots of our clients feel they can wait until the end of the quarter/half/year/whatever to get a better deal thinking that we'd be more amenable to taking a "bad deal" for the sake of closing something.

I think this mindset is permeating all aspects of life. Why try to negotiate out every single last penny/value out of deal? Sure you may come up ahead on a given deal, but is the time and effort and relationship worth it? Sometimes it's better to be a satisficer than a maximizer.

I don't get the DD hate. Two stars? From what I've seen, the man is successful in the business world and is imparting some negotiating wisdom. Give him his props. Better this thread than umpteen reposts of the same trade rumor or unreadable tripe.

All I know is DM has a real eye for talent. He has put together a team that is over .500 on primarily draft picks and "lesser knowns" in the Western Conference none the less. What other team can say that that they have done that? Especially one that is able to do it without their "star players". This is Morey's biggest test so far. Keep in mind that he has only been GM for nearly three years.

Still here now, have a meeting at 10pm tonight, just ate Sushi, decided to come back to the room and see if Tmac was traded yet, and then put up this thread as I read that more and more of the players are moving on to other deals.

I don't see anything wrong with the thread, DD, although I do think it premature. Heck, you could be right and Morey waited too long. I don't think so. I think we're all nervous as cats about what's going to happen, which leads to emotional reactions to "posts out of the blue," which this might qualify as being. Better served to have waited until tomorrow afternoon, in my opinion, but if you turn out to have been on target, you win... the Rockets lose! (see what I mean? bummer!) As things are going, I will post this and a completely new scenario will have been unearthed in the meantime, and we'll have something else to freak out over. :)

I'm assuming you read that one line in my post and decided to skip the rest.

I detailed the rumored trades. They were all hot garbage.

Oh, come one! I've given DD as hard a time as anyone (most of it richly deserved!), but this is going too far. He's giving his opinion as the clock is ticking. I agree that he's wrong, in my opinion, anyway, but he's not being the Anti-Christ here. (irony aimed at DaDakota)

    Thank you Xero,

I appreciate your support, I have cut way back but there are some that would like me to go away all together, you can pretty much figure that out from this very thread.

    :)

It is why I have stopped the DD's Rocket talk vids...

It is just baffling to me that people here are so rude, it used to not be that way, fans could post their thoughts, and others would discuss situations etc.

I am in no way degrading Morey, or the organization, just merely pointing out situations I have seen in the biz world where people lose out on fair deals by being too greedy.

I have a very good friend, who was VERY successful early in his career, but became addicted to these types of deals, now, no one will deal with the guy because he is just too harsh, and it is clear that he is not out to make a fair deal but to simply try to fleece someone.

Now, I am NOT saying that is Morey at all, but to me, it does look a little like that from the Outside........

It is just perspective and speculation people, nothing more.

lol, If he waits to write this after the fact then people will be replying "oh its easy to write that now after nothing happens!"

The suspense is starting to kill me. Our targets are backing down instead of putting up more. Our targets are dealing with others instead of us now. Give a couple more hours our targets just might be no more.

Sun Tzu will tell you that all trades are based on deception.

He will also tell you that, you always have to leave a way of escape. If the opposition wants to surround you with bad contracts that may hinder your quest for glory, you escape by waiting it out til summer time.

Also, from the 5th article: A GM who retreats from a trade without fearing disgrace, in order to protect our glorious red nation from financial disaster, is an honorable man.

I love Sun Tzu, very well spoken and the "Art of War" is a great read.

    Either way....he is dead now.

    ;)

That is what bulletin boards are for.......but I do think that people who criticize all are compensating for a lack of something.

I agree it looks like Morey was going for the screw job, he almost caught the Knicks in a desperate act to get their team back to some respectability. But Donnie Walsh must have got some good rest last night. Because today he saw the screwball coming. We've pretty much screwed this whole T-mac thing up from the beginning.

See now YOU'RE just making assumptions. Don't get so defensive about YOUR thread, it is YOUR opinion and I didn't even criticize. I made a general statement.

Either way all these knee jerk Morey is losing the world since all these rumors are coming out that threads are very annoying. Obviously we weren't getting Butler, Stoudemire would be a nice 2 month rental, Igoudala came with a steep price, and nothing at this point would be fine with many people on this board. Me being one.

Its just funny how many threads are already out on the decisions Morey has made when he hasn't even really made one, besides sitting Tracy for the 1st half of the season. Oh well, as you said that is what bulletin boards are for... to criticize. Right?

Maybe after tomorrow - hopefully with a trade - we can all discuss which potential deal was the best.

At the end of the day, all any of us really has is our opinions and it is all subjective.

I just hope DM was not too greedy, and the team is looking to a buyout situation about 4pm tomorrow.

Sure partly to criticize, partly to cheer and mostly to discuss with others who share the same passions about a particular team.

I just find it funny that people are so quick to slam other posters these days.
