They lost the two games which he scored the most points. I thought you didn;t like dudes who score but don't translate it to wins?
There were certain lines Jordan wouldn't cross, he wasn't Laimbeer, but he would definitely throw well-timed elbows and forearms, on offense and defense. And honestly, you can't judge a player off of one series. Kobe might be dirty, but he's not Bruce Bowen. Usually his worst offense is the fact that he travels all the time. That said, I still don't see how anyone could possibly argue that Kobe's better than Jordan. Jordan won more championships, put up better numbers across the board, and played against tougher competition.
LeBron being dunked on was no news. But if he asked Nike staff to confiscate the tape, that's breaking news.
JVG thought it would've been absurd if anyone besides Kobe won finals MVP.... even if the Celtics won. Just saying... seeing as how most of you guys like to use JVG as a back up.
Hey I know this guy has a buncha flaws, but why do I respect kobe so much? He is the type of star I would want to pay max dollars. He is the one hardest working guy in the game, spends his offseason doing more rigorous workouts and pushing himself more than people who don't have contracts, at 31 when hes lost a step, he still pushes himself and doesn't scede to all the guys who after a bad game say other players have surpassed him. His dedication, approach, and commitment, simply to the game of basketball is why I respect him as a ball player, hell all the players are fake with marketing so I just don't take that seriously, what I look for is their approach and this guy is obsessed with the game. So when I hear sasha vucicic who was looking for a contract years ago and kobe who already just signed a 100 million dollar contract were doing 8 hour workouts together, when you hear him calling olajuwon to learn post moves, when you see him putting off surgery to play for team USA, even when I saw him demand a trade adn risk losing his most loyal fans in LA and not just ake his pay check and shut up, just because he is here to win and thats it, thats when I know hes one of the rare players I believe is a max dollar player...that i would pay to see
game 1 6-24 (0.25) game 2 9-19 (0.47) game 3 13-27 (0.48) game 4 10-22 (0.45) game 5 10-29 (0.34) game 6 8-20 (0.40) game 7 10-22 (0.45)
So because of his FG% he shouldn't have won Finals MVP? Ok... Use that against Jordan also then in the 96 finals.
I didn't say that, I just thought that if you show points scored you should also include FG%. I think Bryant deserved the Finals MVP. Gasol, didn't play better than him. But if you only show points scored, and disregard all the other stats, than Iverson looks like one of the best of all time, while infact he was a high volume shooter, who scored many points with a teriible FG%. I'm not a big fan of Kobe, However I believe that he is one of the top 15 players of all time. He just isn't top 5 all time.
Woah...anyone else feel like this could be the perfect description of Jordan in the late 80s/early 90s?
Franchise3 you are pretty much right when it comes down to it. what people seem to forget is back in the day the game was D-I-R-T-Y but suspensions werent thrown left and right. actually it was a lot more physical hence the rockets/knicks nba finals but also look at old highlights and look at the things the got away with. heck even the detroit pistons had a defensive scheme created just to stop mj but anyway that is besides the point. people remember jordan winning 6 titles but people dont remember how he trash talked to gary payton during the 96 finals or how he would fight reggie miller almost every game. mj himself said that he played "head games" with all the players in order to get in their head and trust me mj was an AVID trash talker during the 80's-90's so if he played battier i think he wouldve been worse then kobe imo
Word for word truth. I think it really its an NBA thing for players to get judged so much on character. The 40th guy on an NFL team is probably just as arrogant and cut throat as Kobe. In the NBA its just much more visible where it can get judged. Personality DOES count still. Its easy to like Carl Landry and Luis Scola over Zach Randolph. But sometimes I think the NBA gets held to an unreasonable standard. David Stern doesnt help it by making rule changes based on fan perception, like the dress code thing.
