THERE are some powerful odours that can pass
Out of the stoppard flagon; even glass
To them is porous. Oft when some old box
Brought from the East is opened and the locks
And hinges creak and cry; or in a press
In some deserted house, where the sharp stress
    Of odours old and dusty fills the brain;
An ancient flask is brought to light again,
And forth the ghosts of long-dead odours creep.
There, softly trembling in the shadows, sleep
    A thousand thoughts, funereal chrysalides,
Phantoms of old the folding darkness hides,
Who make faint flutterings as their wings unfold,
Rose-washed and azure-tinted, shot with gold.

A memory that brings languor flutters here:
The fainting eyelids droop, and giddy Fear
Thrusts with both hands the soul towards the pit
Where, like a Lazarus from his winding-sheet,
Arises from the gulf of sleep a ghost
Of an old passion, long since loved and lost.

So I, when vanished from man's memory
Deep in some dark and sombre chest I lie,
An empty flagon they have cast aside,
Broken and soiled, the dust upon my pride,
Will be your shroud, beloved pestilence!
The witness of your might and virulence,
Sweet poison mixed by angels; bitter cup
Of life and death my heart has drunken up!

The appeal: Get chicks phone number in hopes of getting laid...

Reality: Buy some girls some drinks and in the end, you go home along and practice your cool internet skills...

    :D

Seeing as you're 21, it puts a little different perspective on things, in my opinion. I assumed you were of age.

There's more of a pressure on you to drink when you're not of age. I am 19 but I was made fun of all the time in high school and now college for never having tried alcohol. I was just saying, now that I tried it, I don't like it. And after the responses I think it was probably the incredible amount of sugar in the Smirnoff that made me sick.

I really doubt it. Chances are you had too much alcohol and your body rejected it. I remember getting sick my first time, and that was with beer.

I'm not condoning alcohol. I just can't imagine someone not doing it. I guess it all depends on the circles you run with. If I'm going out, I'm getting a drink.

me neither, but there is no denying that alcohol has had at least a terciary influence on culture that we all benefit from, i'm talking about music, poems and artwork made under its influence. if you don't like to drink or have a problem with it, don't drink and don't rain on everyone else's parade because of your issues.

I agree. When you're under age there is a high amount of peer pressure because it is seen as the "cool" thing to do. Forbidden fruit; for a lot of people it becomes less of a novelty when they are able to go out and buy alcohol for themselves. Also, another reason I said the previous post is because you probably see a lot more idiocy and irresponsible use of alcohol with the under 21 age bracket.

Also, since so many people were chiming in with their opinions on if you got sick from the alcohol or the ridiculous amount of sugar in those drinks, I'm now curious about what exactly you drank. If I understand correctly, it was a sweet, energy-drink tasting, Smirnoff beverage? Was it just a 12 oz bottle like what a beer would come in? And you only had one? Just curious, I don't mean to be nosey. :)
