Beer is liquid currage. I love the occasional drinks. After a long tough day I love to head out with some buds and drink my share of beers.
I don't drink because I have only been exposed to its most negative elements. If I started, I believe I would become an alcoholic. Also, I have set the bar pretty high for myself. My goal is to attain my PhD/MD and I only get one shot at it.
I totally agree. I lived in Europe for 4 months (Italy) last year. They are very open about alcohol (i.e. you can have open containers pretty much anywhere - except while driving, of course). The thing this, you rarely see extremely intoxicated people at bars/clubs and when you do, it's usually visiting Americans. Sad...
Let schoolmasters puzzle their brains with grammar, nonsense and learning. Good liquor I stoutly maintain, gives genius a better discerning.
I hate when people ask "you wanna get a beer?" Wouldn't it be better to ask "do you want me to whiz in your mouth?" Cause I imagine both taste the same and the latter is free. Hides in case beer fans get mad
I really used to dislike beer. Then I spent 6 months in Europe, and discovered that beer actually had a taste that didn't remind me of the bottom a toilet, and was bloody good! Of course, the table wine, in many countries, was out of this world. The cheese was incredible. The bread fantastic. The girls were gorgeous. Uh, did I get sidetracked??
Yea those foreign beers can actually taste pretty decent. The only problem is that for most people it's a little too expensive to buy the foreign, expensive stuff and as a result they are stuck with the American crap. In the end, the average joe has to get drunk of the Rocky Mountain crisp taste, or the smooth refreshing stuff we get here.
If you're wondering about the appeal of alchohal let my is directe explain to you Chang's Law of Urbanism. The greatness of a city is in direct relationship to the number of drunken idiots in that city. Every great urban center has had a lot of great drunken idiots. Its the same for present day New York and Chicago as London in the 19th C, and ancient Rome. 2,500 years ago in ancient Athens there were drunken idiots stumbling around the Agora going, "That Milos of Croton rocks and dude Plato had this wacky idea about a cave." Drunken idiots provide vitality and energy to a city, not to mention they spend a lot of money. Often the most creative people are drunken idiots, James Joyce, Jackson Pollack, Mozart, pretty much every Jazz legend. And without their alchoholic fueled mania great cities would be about as exciting as overgrown Omahas. So the appeal of alchohal is that it is a social lubricant, muse and catalyst that makes it possible to not only live in overcrowded crime ridden polluted cities but to thrive in them and create interesting vibrant cultures.
you're missing the point. any substance can be harmful if overused/abused. hell, Tylenol can wreak havoc on your liver. to the contrary, most substances in moderation are not only not harmful, but can actually be healthy (the cardio benefits of wine, etc.) whether you like it or not, you consume mind and/or body altering "drugs" everyday... moderation is key to everything. that being said, i'm an avid drinker and definitely enjoy it. nothing like a good glass of wine, delicious ice cold beer (had a bottle of Delerium yesterday :drool), or a nice whiskey on the rocks. i went from drinking to get drunk in high school to preferring higher quality libations in moderation..... most of the times
I drink, because I like the taste, but Im never been drunk, I never threw up (because of drinking too much alcohol), I only drink enough, when I start to getting dizzy I'll stop, I enjoy the drink, not drinking too fast. I dont like the dance clubs, I like to drink in a bar, or in a friends house, just to chill out.
I'll probably give alcohol another try when i turn 21. Apple martini or something. I'm going to be drinking it a lot slower though. Thanks for the replies anyways. Its somewhat refreshing to know there are still lots of people who don't drink.
