Morey definitely ****ed up , but he has done a good enough job in the past to buy another year or so . The key is he needs to not make a panic move that will set us back long term . We need to find a team . Harden is a good enough player that as long as the second best player isn't also a sg we will be fine . We've got to pray that Harrell and Capela turn out ok . Pray Dmo can come back and then find some playmakers on the perimeter that are smart . Harden has matured and he is ready to carry us , but he needs guys to take the offensive load off him . I'm longing for 2012-14 parsons and Lin right now . He needs a center that can set actual picks . He was more efficient getting to the hoop with Asik setting screens vs Howard . The situation where you have one great player but then a bunch of limited players is a hard one to get out of . We need to be patient and find young guys that can learn to play team ball and build an actual team and system . Mchale did a good job hardens first year , we need someone to devise a similar plan .
Terrance Williams for a first round pick? Ty Lawson for a first round pick? Royce White? Marcus Morris? Morey has been choppy - probably better than ok, but not as good as some people think, especially if you include his philosophy - and thoughts on how little coaching matters. I honestly think him being fired would make him a better GM. DD
Time is running. It all started with the hire of the worst coach in the NBA at the time in McFail and then extending him after the Portland humiliation Stupid analytics run geeky nerd ball with some of the worst shooters around Playing lackey to Harden and all his requests. Not holding him accountable defensively and going to bat for him through social media. Building the entire offense and defense on this team around Harden such that players look clueless when he is off the court or when he is being guarded tight Repeated busts in the 1st round like White, Dekker, Mook over Kawhi. Not able to draft one guy and extend him past his rookie contract as a franchise piece. Others have likes of Kawhi, Ibaka, Butler, Draymond Green with low picks Replacing McFail with his assistant of 8 years here and in Minny in BJ Buggerstaff. The list goes on. I laughed when people used to call him a top GM and a top 3 or top 5 GM. I said he was not close at that time and sure isn't close to that ranking right now

I don't understand why JBB can be head coach after all stars weekend. If Morey is an OK GM, he should understand he must change the head coach. But Morey don't understand who JBB is
Morey's arrogance has always been his biggest downfall. This season will hopefully take him down a notch. Maybe he needs to learn some humility and be less stubborn.
"Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor." is the quote on Morey's Twitter handle. It's been 10 years. Time to move on.
How has arrogance been his downfall? His downfall if you will was taking risks that didn't work out. I prefer a GM that takes risks.
I think his dogged commitment to his on court philosophy and belief that coaching is not that important is a sign of ego. He is not all knowing, has never built a championship team, undervalues chemistry - and still has some room to grow. The TEAM game that GS and SA play is and always has been the best way to play basketball.....not the 3 and Iso way. DD
This is what concerns me most of all if Morey's kept around. The coaching hire will be the most important move made this offseason. Personnel moves matter too, but the coach dictates the offensive and defensive systems and will have at least some input on what players are on the roster next season. Will Morey relinquish control and let the coach decide what kind of offense we'll be running next year? Will he hire someone who demands accountability from James Harden and the rest of the team? Or will he want another puppet yes man whose job will be to manage egos?
