Until he proves it, he isn't a guy for a championship. I agree with you only if the team's goal is to stay a playoff contender and a perennial contender for the WCF and 2nd round Morey is a key figure It isn't just on Morey truth to be told. The organization is just not great. They have great fanbase amongst others and a great fansite that is Clutchfans but the team cannot live up to that. Maybe they can one day but the future becomes more and more uncertain.
I've said it before, last year was FOOL'S GOLD and in fact set the franchise back a year since instead of blowing up the roster last offseason, he was basically forced to not only keep the roster, but get hard capped with the horrific Ty Lawson trade. No one can fault the GM for doing this given the context at the time, but it is what it is. Time for Morey to clean house in the offseason. Missing the playoffs and getting that protected lottery pick is not the end of the world. Go all in with your 3s and layups philosophy. Don't re-sign Dwight. Load the roster with nothing but 3pt shooters and penetrators and lead the league in offensive rating.

Morey is a genius on what he does collecting talent . But his reputation of treating players as assets and not letting good coaches to decide the best way to coach has hurt this franchise reputation and some start players don't even take us seriously. I love Morey and Les but unless they change that perception people are getting from us we wont go nowhere they should start by getting a great coach this offseason AND LET HIM COACH IMHO
Morey trying to acquire stupid players has caught up to him. Look up and down the roster, no one has a feel for the game outside of Ariza, Terry, and D-Mo. We have some of the dumbest players in the NBA, coupled with stupid coaches. Morey needs to shape up this offseason or else he needs to get fired.

Maybe getting the right role players is not rocket science and does not require someone who is smarter than the average GM. I am not sure who is sitting with Morey in the management but I prefer a team of minds that put it to a vote than one "tyrant" on the GM podium. Maybe group votes plus a stronger vote by the head GM on big decisions.
Losing Parsons and Dragic the way he did were his two biggest mistakes. Parsons should have never been in that position, and Dragic just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Now all you have is Harden + Scrubs and a waning star in Howard who wants to bail ship. FAs dont' want to come here. Durant isn't going to come here - he wants to win.
Unless someone from SAS management comes to H-town, would prefer for Morey to eat a large serving of humble pie and go to work, starting with a coach that connects with Harden, installs a system of play conducive to winning consistently through defence, movement and a selfless culture, and a final say on roster decisions. Morey to stick to GM duties and the coach be coaching. Les just sign those checks.
I actually wouldn't mind keeping Morey, if he actually practised what he preaches..I don't think he analyses this team or players much at all. He just gets whoever is available regardless of fit to the team and or system. He doesn't get the right shooters for the system he and Leslie love. He drafts and gets PFs who cannot shoot outside of 3 feet. The list goes on..
