Figures only the Rockets are interested in JVG.

You get what you pay for.

Playing devil’s advocate. Why is this a bad thing or considered a detriment?

If the Rockets end up hiring Jeff VanGundy, what are the chances his brother, Stan, comes along to run the offense?

he’s not welcome here after his tirade against the Astros. Try to steal Chris Finch from New Orleans as AHC if JVG is the hire.

Will JVG play young guys and expand the rotation?

Who knows, he did coach the US squad to a gold and he actually praised Michael Frazier pretty hard.

    LOL

Not if we go by precedent.

Expect Charlie Ward to be pulled out of mothballs to play backup PG.

If Windhorst is pushing for Rockets to hire JVG, I really don't want him.

If Rockets offense under MDA struggled in playoffs, just imagine how morbid this offense would be under JVG in playoffs.

Rockets dodged a bullet with Doc.

Even if they could afford him.

I agree a Van Gundy Offense would be horrible, the pace would be horrific. Maybe a lot of that was slowing it down for YAO, but the offense was just post YAO, he would touch his chin to signal Mcgrady to cut to the free throw and shoot a jumper. David Wesley, overplaying chuck hayes, Carl weatherspoon, that white dude who just pissed off Dirk, not good years. Adelman did better with less ....

I’m down for JVG. No way he runs this small ball bullshit though.

JVG is so desperate to return to NBA that he will run whatever Morey tells him to run.

    Not being hostile.

Jeff has not coached in the NBA for a long time, but he has been watching the game non-stop because he is a commentator. How much do you think he has seen/learned that he would use? He actually might be a great coach for us with the right offensive minded assistant coach.

JVG wants 4 bigs on the roster. Whiteside, Boogie, Tristan Thompson and Dwert.
Rick Brunson as assistant coach and his massage therapist as head athletic trainer

agreed here. morey will only hire someone that's open to his system. that goes for offense and defense. what we need in in-game management and adjustments. JVG was always good at that.

I agree that JVG may make more adjustments. However adjustments are not better due to quantity nor are adjustments, any adjustments, of the same quality.

Otherwise JVG would have won at least 1 playoff game in his 4 seasons with Rockets.

With a healthy Yao AND McGrady, Adelman could have gone a lot further than the second round with JVG's Rockets team. Unfortunately Adelman inherited a past his prime TMac and a broken down Yao. Plus JVG could not figure out how to defend stretch 4's or even stretch 5's. It didn't matter if it was HOFer Nowitski, AK47, Boozer or journeyman Mehmet Okur.

Nevermind how JVG had absolutely no clue on how even slow down forget stop MDA's 7 seconds or less Suns. Suns used to run Rockets out of the building, like they did with many teams of that era.

In 4 seasons, JVG at the height of his coaching career (statistically his team played league best defense) could not figure out how to defend the Suns or teams with stretch bigs. Is 15 years away from NBA coaching enough time for him to figure out all the different modern offenses now which are much more prolific than D'Antoni's Suns team?

And there are very few coaches on JVG's tree that have been successful in today's postseason, more adjustments or not. Steve Clifford with Magic and Thibs with Bulls & TWolves have stunk it up in the playoffs just like their mentor, JVG.
