    Chris Broussard:

So what has changed with NJ?

Nets reached out last week about another deal. As of now, only a 2 team talk between NJ and Den. Detroit not inlcuded in these talks as of now. Nuggets and Nets talking about smaller version of 13-14 player deal that was.

Knicks stepped things up and did that force NJ?

People I talk to feel the Nets intended to do this all along. They were bothered by how public the talks were. They always intended to get back in. They see the Knicks having trouble, the Nets entered at the 11th hour. They are a serious threat to NY.

Dont we get back to problem all along - Melo wont sign long term?

Right. Melo hasnt told anyone he would re-sign there. Though, as the time has approached to leave the money on the table(15-20 mil), he is becoming hesitant. Nets banking on it that he wants that money and that he wants to be on the East Coast. Thats why they think they can get him to extend.

    Anything scheduled to discuss?

Carmelo will have to meet with Prokorov unless he determined already he will sign there. Prokorov will be there in LA at owner's meetings, of course so will Carmelo as an All-Star. Dont be surprised if they get together.

Denver wants Knicks starting lineup minus STAT

Felton, Feilds, Chandler, Galinari, Mozgov was practically the starting lineup when Stat was injured. Plus Curry and the Minnys pick fro radolph trade. WOW!!!! The reporters were saying Denver did it on purpose because they dont really wanna trade Melo so they are for too much on purpose.

It was funny how Nuggets got pi$$ed of at NJ for letting their dicussions be know in the public. Well I wonder how the Nuggets feel about this one getting out in the public. I think NY did it on purpose to show how stupid Denver execs are.

In all honesty, I don't really think it's that much because all of those guys are average guys. It's basically a bunch of average players and a late draft pick for a superstar and at worst, an average guard with a great contract next year. That isn't as unfair as it seems. If I'm Denver I would ask for all of those average guys as well because honestly, the team isn't much worse off than by letting Melo walk than they are by getting a bunch of average players and a late pick. I would rather have what the Cavs and Raptors got, large TE's and multiple late picks.

So what will NJ's team be?

Melo, Billups, and some of Denver's garbage in Balkman, Ely, Shelden Williams + Brook Lopez, Sasha Vujacic? Minus Favors, Harris, and 4 1st rounders?

Seriously crap team that will remain crappy for years to come.

For the record, I hope Melo says no, New York waits it out, and Denver gets shafted. Those Denver front office people are just stupid.

The Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets are once again in advanced talks on the framework of a blockbuster trade for Carmelo Anthony(notes). And once again, Anthony must be sold on agreeing to a three-year, $65 million contract extension to push these long, winding negotiations to completion.

The Nets and Nuggets are discussing a deal that would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups(notes), Melvin Ely(notes), Renaldo Balkman(notes) and Shelden Williams(notes) to the Nets for Derrick Favors(notes), Devin Harris(notes), Troy Murphy(notes), Ben Uzoh(notes) and four first-round draft picks, a league source with knowledge of the talks told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday night.

Now, the pressure could be back on the New York Knicks to sweeten their offer and get Anthony before the Feb. 24 trade deadline. Knicks president Donnie Walsh has seemed willing to let Anthony go into free agency, when New York can try to sign him in the summer. The Knicks and Nuggets have negotiated steadily in recent weeks, but Denver has been frustrated with New York’s reluctance to part with key young players in a deal.

For the Nets, the next step would be for owner Mikhail Prokhorov to meet Anthony in Los Angeles during All-Star weekend and sell the Nuggets star on a future with the Nets. It’s still unclear whether such a meeting would happen. Prokhorov has continued to publicly say he’s no longer interested in trying to acquire Anthony.

“Mikhail has not changed his mind,” Prokhorov’s assistant, Ellen Pinchuk, told the Associated Press Thursday.

Sources said Anthony’s agents didn’t even know until Tuesday or Wednesday that the Nuggets and Nets had restarted talks. The teams resumed negotiations over a week ago when Denver called back the Nets in the aftermath of Prokhorov’s abrupt ending of talks on Jan. 19.

This is still a steep price for the Nets to pay for Anthony, and far more than the Knicks seem willing to give up. Among the draft picks the Nets are expected to give the Nuggets are their own 2011 first-round selection, the 2011 first-round pick they acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers, a future conditional first-rounder from the Golden State Warriors and another future first-rounder.

The Nets owner is a smart business man. A billionaire smart Russian business man at that. This is just so to have a marquee player to headline their new stadium in Brooklyn. It's about money, publicity, hype, and ticket sales. It's not about building a contender team. Melo should just flat out say no. Ball is in his court, he shouldn't forget that.

Troy Murphy would be going to a 3rd team along with 1 or 2 of the Nets picks. You think Morey would be willing to take on a 12M expiring Troy Murphy for an unspecified first rounder?

I hope this happens, James Dolan goes ballistic, lets Donnie Walsh go, rehires Zeke and the Knicks crash and burn for several more years.

But I have a feeling the Nets trade will not happen.

I love how so called "league sources" have inside info in saying Denver has agreed to NY and NJ. Have they cloned Melo? Is there two Melos?

WojYahooNBA: RT @SpearsNBAYahoo: Melo is close to being dealt to Knicks, possibly tonight, a source tells Y! Sports.

Hopefully this will open up the trade market.
