I actually think the T-Wolves would rather swap out Battier from that package and replace him with Andersen, Harris and Johnson.

Why take back MORE salary and then buy out the one guy who could actually help your team next year?

At least with the "replacement scrubs" the Wolves would save some money next season.

My guess is that Budinger and/or picks would need to be involved.

    I disagree with this.
Al Jefferson is owed $13M/$14M/$15M the next 3 years. Minnesota is trying to dump his contract for a team going nowhere and loaded at PF.
Jefferson big contract for 3 more years with questionable knee will not draw big offer.
They are looking at draft picks and expiring contracts in return. No chance they are expecting to get better now.
Jeffries, 2012 NYK pick(may only need a 2nd rounder instead), and Hill. gets it done in my opinion. May have to throw in a Battier and hope they cut him and Houston could resign if desired.
I think Houston is willing to part ways with Battier anyway. His defense is slipping and his offense is weaker than Buds.

What good is Hill to Houston anyway with Scola,Jefferson,Patterson?
Hill would never see the court unless of injury.

Problem is Minn is loaded at PF so they may have no interest in Hill. Might want Bud.

Any deal needs to have Rubio in it. Surely the NYK picks could get it done.

That's 6'10 with shoes. Al Jefferson's real height is 6'8.5. That's too short for C.

Hill can play center better than Al Jefferson. If you think Scola and Patterson are too much at C then there's no space for Al J here either.

    Pros:
    Strong like bull!
    Got a jumpshot.
    Got some postmoves.
    Shotblocker.
    Defensive presence.
Gets around other bigs with ease.

    Cons:
Lost a lot of lateral quickness (tore his ACL)!
    Slowed down on both ends.
    Short (kinda).
    Contract is (kinda) hefty.
Clogs the paint more than Yao. Or Scola.

Where did you get this? He's not a good defensive player. At all.

He's not an incredible shot blocker, but he's a bigger threat to block shots than anybody (not named Yao) on the team right now.

And by defensive presence, I assume he means that when people drive into the lane, they'll notice Jefferson there and be a little more reluctant about taking it up... as opposed to driving into the lane and seeing Scola there.

    You undervalue Hill big time.

In order to beat the Heat, we now need some dominate players down low. A combo of Al, Scola, and Yao will do the trick. Not to mention the potential of Hill stepping up. Bosh wont be able to stop any of those 3.

I think we are the one team that already has what it takes to match up with the Heat. Ask and answer these questions:

Who do the heat have to match up with Yao Ming?

Who do the Heat have that can keep Aaron Brooks out of the paint and who is back there in the paint when he gets there?

What team in the league can throw out two first rate perimeter defenders on the floor to slow down Wade and LaBailer?

What are the Heat going to do to match up with us?

When you look at it like that, I don't have any fear of the Heat. More to fear from the Lakers and Celtics than the Heat.

    To add....

How in the hell will the Heat match up with our bench(KL, JT, Bud, Pat, Hill)?

Exactly. they will get some ring chasers there but what kind of Point guards and Bigs are out there? None that will strike fear. Bosh certainly doesn't impress me defensively? The occasional blind side block he gets doesn't strike fear into any drive and dish point guards. I just don't have that big of fear of LaQuit and the two love birds.

The guy is going to play 25mins a night. I don't think you worry about matchuing up with him personally. The heat and the raptors dogged the rockets last year. The tilting of the defense will negate any so called advantage defensively by the rockets. I think once they fill their roster out, they will have a championship quality team. The hard part is done, bench players are a dime a dozen. Back to big al.

He makes too much sense to me, but thats just me. He fits offensively, defensively, and from an age point of view. If yao cant really come back or is very limited, you have jefferson there already.

I would happily give up Bud and some garbage to get this done. I understand we striked out on plan A, but the Jefferson is a beast when healthy, and could really help us in a halfcourt game.

By that logic, every other C in the league is an inch and a half shorter, without shoes. So in relation to the competition, he's still a 6'10 player.

I'm not necesarily against Jefferson, but I don't think he fits here, nor do I think he is a "Morey" player.

I think he is primed to become the next Elton Brand.

Why do u say that? Elton had a back one year and a knee the next. What made him special was his quickness and explosion for a man his size. Once you have back problems, its not the same as far as explosion, look at tracy.
