Wow, I thought he had injured his ACL like Landry did in college but no ACL's at all? That sir, is scary and respectable.
You can't blame DM for passing on a guy who's considered injury prone after the nightmares involving Yao and TMac. Imagine the grilling he'd get if Blair got hurt this season. No matter how brilliant the GM, you weigh certain risks and make decisions. We can't rip off the Spurs for Scola every single move. Remember, there are probably threads similar to this one around the league that ask the same thing about Budinger.
the spurs didnt exactly just throw blair into game action straight outta college. I'm sure some of his success can be credited to Pop and TD. TD probably thought him a lot, so let's not act like he'd be exactly the same in a rockets uni.
Did anyone else laugh at the 'ahh chucks'? I mean usually when you're bad at spell, you at least can spell it phonetically correct. lol^
coulda woulda shoulda, we have the best gm in the nba and people are posting crap like this. typical backseat drivers
You posters are right. We do have the greatest gm in the world. The reason why he didn't drafted Blair was because we have the great Joey Dorsey. He's gonna help the Rockets become champs. Sarcasm
Thats what I was thinking. How can it be a throw in? Check your facts before you start calling people names.
Yes, 2nd round picks. They're not guaranteed picks. When did you start watching basketball? He picked up Budinger, who is considered one of the steals of the draft and you're faulting him for not picking up another big steal.
Blair was projected in the top 15 in the draft. Yes I am faulting him. He could of had 3 steals of the draft if had pick Blair with the 32 pick. Sam Young with the 34 pick and Bud at 44. I agree with you when you say 2nd round picks aren't guaranteed, but when you have the 2 of the 3 guys I mentioned projected in the first round slip to you in the 2nd, you take them. I think what happened to Morey was he fell in love with the guys he scouted in Taylor and Lull, he decided to stick with them instead of making the right choice.
I think Clutch confirmed that he was selected by the Rockets in another thread, I think it was the Morey track record thread and how he chooses more seniors than any other class, which is incorrect imo.
There's a reason he dropped, Morey wasn't the only one to pass on him. You don't choose picks based on the position they were expected to be drafted in or else we would have McRoberts or someone else instead of Brooks and Landry. Gerald Green also fell from his expected lottery position.
There is no right choice when it comes to drafting. You don't know how a player will come out or turn out. Okafor was as sure a thing as you could get coming out of college, hell his hype was so huge he got a cameo in cartoon before he got drafted. 5 years later and his stats are still the same as his rookie numbers. On the other hand the skinny dude who was drafted before him is tearing up league on 60.1 FG% and leading it in rebs and blocks. Similarly, Blair had a lot of uncertainty with his health issues. Saying stuff like "He was a top 15 pick" means nothing because you are already operating from hindsight. Blair's ideal position (pf) is already filled by Scolandry. As a C he would be undersized, and I'm not sure he's gonna offer anything at the C position that Chuck Hayes doesn't already provide, esp. next year when Yao Ming comes back. I'd rather have C-Bud and Taylor, who both fill a position of need.
Hold on a second. You're upset that Morey picked a PG when we already have two good ones, yet you're also upset that Morey didn't pick a PF who would get limited minutes on this team because he'd be playing behind arguably our two best players in Scola and Landry?
I introduced this board to Blair. I called for us to take him on draft night. I still think we should have taken him. ....and even I don't have the nerve to create a pointless thread like this
