Doesn't matter how good economic messaging can be when 99% of working class workers dont want trans women playing in women's sport. The republican party by making social culture war the main focus of their campaign successfully peeled away minorities from Democrats bcz they are more culturally conservative. Hispanics, arabs, indains/pakis, asians are all culturally conservative. The reason why Trump won is cuz Americans think the democratic party has gone over the top on social issues. Trump ran 4x the amount of anti trans ads against harris than economic ads. If you watch Trumps highest paid commercials during the playoffs it was all anti trans stuff which worked like a charm. The disinformation ecosystem from the right is insane Democrats need to ignore their activists base and meet voters where they are culturally. Once you do that then you can focus on the economic populism which bernie is right about.
Here I am, not even a guy. Just a boy. I mean this seems all in line with Bernies stance on the issue which you replied to in opposition.
Bernie is culturally very progressive? He thinks trans athletes should play with women? Bernie also thought bidens crackdown at the border was wrong and he wasnt for bidens move of funding police departments at higher levels. Bernie is a moron whos out of touch with reality. He thinks everyone is a socialist at heart
You're changing the goal post here, I posted an interview with his take on the election and you replied in opposition trashing him despite being pretty much in agreement with his take, I pointed that out, and you reply still bashing him generally for who you think he is. This seems a bit messy. That being said in response to the highlighted question, no I don't think so personally. My impression is he's pretty standard on social issues, he was probably "very progressive" in the 60's regarding civil rights at the time but I don't think that translates into being extreme anymore in the 2020's. If you listen to him talk he's hyper-focused on economics, and people would accuse him of class reducitionism. I think he somewhat begrudgingly goes along with as much of the modern social/cultural stuff that he has to in order to exist in the space he does. I think his staff/team try to push him on that end as you can see some contradictory things written on his website (by staffers) vs what he actually says. He's constantly railed against identity politics over the years. That being said maybe that's just by bias and me projecting what I want to see out of him as a politician vs what he is. I'd just caution you to check yourself similarly.
The Democrats in Washington are out of touch with many blue collar workers. The Democrats policies in many cases are pro labor - but that isn’t enough.
I think that right now Bernie Sanders understands blue collar and working class people better than the Democratic establishment. To be clear - it isn’t that Sanders or Trump REALLY understand the struggles of 25-55 year old folks with a high school degree or people living in a small town with economic issues. They are geriatric white men that have not had real jobs in 50 years. One was born wealthy and never really had the experience or professional life of most Americans - he has been famous and wealthy for a long time. The other came from more humble beginnings and was actually a carpenter for awhile - but has been in politics a very long time. The problem is that the top of the Democratic Party is really out of touch right now - so, in the case of Trump, he at least acts interested or concerned through his populist rhetoric. This stuff can and likely will change quickly - Mondale was rocked by Reagan… lost 49 states and 8 years later Clinton had a mandate and beat up Reagan’s VP. I would urge the Democratic Leadership to accept they have issues relating to their wider voting base and support candidates that are more “in touch”…
I kinda of want him to do all this **** on a personal level. My wife and I make enough money we will be okay. This is the only way his cult followers will see him for what he is, an idiot, and reject him and the others that pushed for these things, and nix them for good. However, I really don't want others to suffer at his tiny hands.
Joe Biden literally wrote the teamsters a 35 billion dollar check (largest bailout in American history) which bailed out 1.3 million members pensions from going broke. It came out to 110k in cold hard cash in their pockets only for the same members to turn around and vote for Trump. Whenever these lefties @fchowd0311 claim the issue is economic populism i just laugh at how clueless they are as individuals. Spending political capital on unions doesn't get you anything in real life and future dems will remember that. His cult will never reject them. They'll just blame democrats for being too mean on trump. Its a religion for these cultists
i would like to think that there would be backlash from his supporters, but they have shown over and over again that he can do whatever he wants and they will love him. its a cult.
